    摘要: Compositions comprising ketone bodies and/or their metabolic precursors are provided that are suitable for administration to humans and animals and which have the properties of, inter alia, (i) increasing cardiac efficiency, particularly efficiency in use of glucose, (ii) for providing energy source, particularly in diabetes and insulin resistant states and (iii) treating disorders caused by damage to brain cells, particularly by retarding or preventing brain damage in memory associated brain areas such, as found in Alzheimer's and similar conditions.These compositions may be taken as nutritional aids, for example for athletes, or for the treatment of medical conditions, particularly those associated with poor cardiac efficiency, insulin resistance and neuronal damage. The invention further provides methods of treatment and novel esters and polymers for inclusion in the compositions of the invention.

    摘要: Disclosed in the present invention is a benzocrown ether graft polymer with a lithium isotopic separation effect and a preparation method thereof. The polymer is a benzocrown ether graft polymer formed by the linkage of chemical bonds, which takes the main chain of a polymer containing chloromethyl group, chloroformyl group or hydroxyl group as main chain, and takes a benzocrown ether as pendant group. The preparation process of the polymer comprises the following steps: preparing polymer solution with certain concentration by dissolving a polymer containing chloromethyl group, chloroformyl group or hydroxyl group in a solvent; then blending a catalyst and a benzocrown ether containing carboxyl group or aldehydyl group and dissolving in the polymer solution containing hydroxyl group, or blending an acid-binding agent and a benzocrown ether containing amino group or hydroxyl group and dissolving in the polymer solution containing chloromethyl group or chloroformyl group, reacting at a certain temperature and for a certain time, linking the benzocrown ether to the main chain of polymer by chemical bonds, and precipitating by adding a precipitating agent to obtain the graft polymer. The grafting polymer has excellent characteristic of lithium isotopic separation.

    摘要: A process for making a cyclic compounds such as cyclic acetal or cyclic ketones by feeding aldehyde or ketone compounds and polyhydroxyl compounds to a reaction zone at a molar ratio of polyhydroxyl compounds to aldehyde or ketone compounds of at least 3:1, reacting these compounds in the presence of a solid acid such as an acidic ion exchange resin, to generate a liquid reaction mixture without separating water from the reaction mixture as it is being formed in the reaction mixture, withdrawing the liquid reaction mixture from the reaction zone as a liquid product stream, and feeding the liquid reaction product stream to a distillation column to separate cyclic acetal compounds from unreacted polyhydroxyl compounds, and optionally recycling back the unreacted polyhydroxyl compounds to the reaction zone. The process produces cyclic acetal compounds in yields of at least 90% with long catalyst life. The process is also suitable to make cyclic ketals from ketone compounds.
