Abstract:
A method for producing a fermentation product from a lignocellulose-containing material comprises combining lignocellulose-containing material and distillers dried grains with or without solubles (DDG/S); pre-treating the combined ligno-cellulose-containing material and DDG/S; exposing the pre-treated combined lignocellulose-containing material and DDG/S to an effective amount of hydrolyzing enzyme; and fermenting with a fermenting organism to produce a fermentation product.
Abstract:
Described is a technology in which a set of objects represent educational entities of an educational model, with relationships between objects. For example, a course object instance may have a relationship with a task instance and a user instance (such as representing a student). Other objects may include user credentials objects, group objects, degree program objects, course plan objects, institution objects, school objects, and/or department objects. The set of objects may be pre-defined and maintained in a persistent storage; this pre-defined set may be extended with an extended object that has relationships with pre-defined objects. The educational entities of an object model may be maintained in rows of a table, with each row having a field that identifies which entity is represented by that row. The table is accessed to determine relationships between an instantiated object for an entity and at least one other instantiated object for another entity.
Abstract:
Described is a technology in which an educational service provides contracts (an interface set) for calling functions that allow management of educational-related data. The interface set may be divided as interfaces to various services; roles associated with users of the educational service determine which interfaces/functions each user can call. The interfaces may include interfaces for calling course-related functions (e.g., of a course service), profile-related functions (e.g., of a profile service), membership-related functions (e.g., of a membership service) and task-related functions (e.g., of a task service). Other interfaces may include interfaces for calling plan-related functions, group-related functions, content-related functions, notification-related functions, provisioning-related functions, institution-related functions, department-related functions, utilities-related functions, standards-related functions, degree program-related functions, contextual communication-related functions and/or scoring related functions.
Abstract:
One embodiment provides a system of exchanging information between a first party and a second party over a network. The system includes an interface module to prompt a query from a first party by a first key word search and to prompt a query from a second party by a second key word search in the network, a key word comparator module to compare the first and second key word searches, and a chat room admission module to automatically admit the first and second parties to a chat room if the first and second key word searches have substantial similarity. The chat room is embedded into a search result web page.
Abstract:
A content-providing entity receives a relatively short text from a user and attempts to determine, automatically, based on that short text (and on other available clues), a language that the user can read and understand. The content-providing entity may then provide, to the user, documents that are written in the determined language. The content-providing entity may determine a language of the input text based on several factors in combination: (a) the service provider's “market,” which is determined based on at least a portion of the URL of the Internet site to which the user directed his browser; (b) the user's “region,” which is determined based on the source Internet Protocol (IP) address of the IP packets that the user sends to the Internet site; (c) the “script” in which the short user-entered text is written; and (d) a statistical analysis of the frequency of the characters present in the short user-entered text.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer readable medium for an operating system (OS) mediated launch of an OS dependent application is disclosed. An application running within an OS may operate outside an OS environment by constructing for example a capsule file, passing the capsule file to firmware interface, and restarting the system. The firmware interface may load various drivers and applications contained within the capsule file and execute them to perform a task. Upon completion of the task, the OS is booted again and the original application may resume control, making use of any information stored by the firmware interface in a dedicated status table or file. Other embodiments may be employed, and other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing multi-phase ranking of web search results by re-ranking results using feature and label calibration are provided. According to one embodiment of the invention, a ranking function is trained by using machine learning techniques on a set of training samples to produce ranking scores. The ranking function is used to rank the set of training samples according to its ranking score, in order of its relevance to a particular query. Next, a re-ranking function is trained by the same training samples to re-rank the documents from the first ranking. The features and labels of the training samples are calibrated and normalized before they are reused to train the re-ranking function. By this method, training data and training features used in past trainings are leveraged to perform additional training of new functions, without requiring the use of additional training data or features.
Abstract:
A problem checker architecture that monitors user progress during a problem-solving process and assists the user through the process (e.g., when requested) using common human methods of solving the problem. Assistance can be in the form of detecting errors during the process, and providing context-sensitive help information when the user gets stuck or makes a mistake. The problem checker can walk the user through the process of solving a math problem one step at a time allowing the user to learn to solve math problems according to a number of different methods. Rather than simply calculating and displaying the answer, the problem checker allows the user to attempt to solve math problems, providing direction only when asked and correction only when required. The problem checker can recognize multiple solution methods for many common math problems and guide the user to the solution via any of the methods.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for filling Doppler signal gaps. The method comprises steps of: storing Doppler signals before and after a gap; analyzing spectral characteristics of the Doppler signals to be filled; judging whether the Doppler signals are to be frequency compensated according to the spectral parameters; compensating the Doppler signals; and filling the gap by means of weighting and superposing the frequency compensated Doppler signals to be filled and the original Doppler signals before and after the gap based on the judging result. According to the method of the present invention, the Doppler signals before and after the gap are first subjected to frequency compensation, and then weighted and superposed with the acquired Doppler signals, thus obtaining a continuous spectrogram and audio output and maintaining the original spectral characteristics of the Doppler signal.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for adjusting forward transmission power control threshold of a terminal in a mobile communication system, including the following steps of setting in advance at a base station side a forward pilot threshold and a lower bound, an upper bound of a forward transmission power control threshold as well as adjustment ranges of said lower bound and upper bound; obtaining the current forward pilot energy measured and reported by the terminal; judging whether the forward pilot energy exceeds said forward pilot threshold; and adjusting the forward transmission power control threshold of the terminal. In the invention, the forward pilot energy reported by the terminal is judged and adjusted through the pre-set parameters above, so as to dynamically adjust the forward transmission power control threshold of the terminal in the sector, reduce call drop rate, and promote the communication quality of a CDMA mobile communication system.
