摘要: Demands have arisen for a vibrating knife such as a biometrical ultrasonic knife which can easily obtain sharp cut surfaces with little possibility of contamination and the like. In order to meet the demands, the excision portion of a vibrating knife such as a biometrical ultrasonic knife which is brought into contact with an excision target such as living body tissue and vibrated in a direction at an angle to the traveling direction in excision so as to excise the target is coated such that the surface of the portion located on the forward side in the traveling direction in excision becomes hydrophobic, and the surface of the portion located on the backward side in the traveling direction in excision becomes hydrophilic.

摘要: An image recording apparatus records an image on a recording medium by causing a recording head having an arrangement of a plurality of recording elements to conduct its main scanning for the recording medium interrelatedly in the direction opposite to the arrangement of the recording elements. The apparatus comprises a setting device to set the number of main scannings by the recording head; a main scanning device to perform recording by plural numbers of main scannings with respect to one pixel by causing the recording head to conduct its main scannings for the same recording area of the recording medium in accordance with the number set by the setting device; and a sub-scanning device to cause the recording head and the recording medium to be sub-scanned interrelatedly per main scanning in an amount smaller than the width of the arrangement of the recording elements of the recording head. Hence, even if a disabled ejection occurs in one scanning at the time of recording by a multi-scanning, the missing dot is complemented by the following scan to make it possible to obtain an image having no image defects at all times.

摘要: An optical encoder has a light irradiating device; an optical scale having a grating for transmitting or reflecting incident light; light-receiving elements disposed in a plurality of different directions; and an optical system for amplitude-modulating light traveling from the light irradiating device to the optical scale and transmitted or reflected by the grating, by a dividing element in which a plurality of V-shaped grooves are juxtaposed, and for dividing the amplitude-modulated light into beams along a plurality of different directions to guide the beams to the respective light-receiving elements. The dividing element is comprised of repetitions of such structure that a plurality of V-grooves consisting of planes of mutually different angles are juxtaposed at a predetermined pitch.

摘要: A printing apparatus and a print control method which detect a defective printing element in operation failure status while reciprocate-scanning a printhead, and perform appropriate print control such as complementary printing on an unprinted portion by the defective printing element, without reducing the printing speed. An apparatus, to which the method is applied, has a photosensor 8, to detect ink discharge statuses of a plurality of nozzles of a printhead 5, which is provided between a home position of the printhead and the outside of an effective printing area where image printing is to be made. While the printhead 5 is scanned, test ink discharge is performed at the position of the photosensor 8, and the ink discharge statuses of the nozzles are detected by the photosensor 8. A corrector 123 analyzes the operation statuses of the nozzles of the printhead 5 based on the results of detection in a real time manner. A CPU 25 performs print control based on the results of analysis.

摘要: A fuel-effusion prevention valve includes a first housing member having an evaporation passage, a first engaging portion and a first cylindrical portion, and a second housing member having a partition portion, a communicating passage, a second engaging portion and a second cylindrical portion. The first cylindrical portion is formed so as to extend axially from the first engaging portion, and its diameter is smaller than that of the second engaging portion. The second cylindrical portion is formed so as to extend axially from the second engaging portion. A floating valve is disposed in a chamber so as to be able to open and close the valve hole in response to its buoyancy due to fuel flowing into the second chamber through the communicating passage. The first cylindrical portion is fused with the second cylindrical portion. A circular seal member is fitted into an installation hole formed on the fuel tank and its inner hole is fitted onto the outer circumferential surface of the first cylindrical portion.

摘要: In an image recording apparatus having a recording head, recording may be interrupted (for example, to permit transfer of new image data after a predetermined amount of recording is performed). Recording quality is maintained by compensating for the change in head temperature which occurs during the interruption. This is done by detecting the temperature of the recording head and/or counting the interruption time, and driving the recording head in a stand-by mode or correcting the image signal in accordance with the temperature difference between interruption and resumption of recording.
