A method for segmenting at least a pair of regions of an image, such method comprising: obtaining data of the image; computing watersheds of the image from intensity gradients of such image data; extracting a watershed region adjacency graph from the computed watersheds, such graph comprising a plurality of nodes corresponding to the watersheds and node interconnecting edges; assigning weights to the interconnecting edges; identifying each of the pair of regions in the image; identifying the nodes corresponding to the pair of identified regions in the adjacency graph; applying constrained graph-partitioning in the adjacency graph using the edge-weights to label unmarked nodes corresponding to each one of the pair of regions; and extrapolating the obtained label nodes on the graph to the image to segment each one of the pair of regions of the image.

Images obtained from the camera are projected onto a single plane. A front image is mapped in a window at a center of the plane. A left, right, top and bottom image of the cubic space are mapped around the rectangular window such that the left, right, top and bottom images form a continuous image surrounding the rectangular window.

Dual-echo MR UTE1 and UTE2 images are acquired from a patient. The bone structure of the patient is classified and a labeled segmentation is generated. A DRR image is generated from the labeled segmentation and is registered with an X-ray image of the patient. The registration methods are implemented on a processor based system.

Methods and a system to unify reconstruction and motion estimation steps in first pass cardiac perfusion MRI include a global objective function that meets data consistency, spatial smoothness, motion and contrast dynamics constraints. The global objective decomposed into simpler sub-problems which include low pass filtering of a deformed object, TV shrinkage, analytical Fourier replacement and an l2 minimizing problem. A registration tool based on the local cross-correlation similarity measure and enabled to perform both rigid and flexile deformations, is applied. Registration parameters are tuned by rigid, semi rigid and flexible models at different stages of iterations. A system to perform the methods is also disclosed.
