摘要: The present invention provides methods for reducing, reversing or inhibiting neovascularization in a tissue of a mammalian subject having a pathological condition involving neovascularization by administration in vivo of nanoceria particles (cerium oxide nanoparticles) to the subject. The method of the invention is useful, for example, for reducing, treating, reversing or inhibiting neovascularization in ocular tissue such as the retina, macula or cornea; in skin; in synovial tissue; in intestinal tissue; or in bone. In addition, the method of the invention is useful for reducing or inhibiting neovascularization in a neoplasm (tumors), which can be benign or malignant and, where malignant, can be a metastatic neoplasm. As such, the invention provides compositions, which contain nanoceria particles and are useful for reducing, treating, reversing or inhibiting angiogenesis in a mammalian subject.

摘要: Neurostimulation to mitigate lung wetness is delivered to a patient based on a sensed parameter indicative of lung wetness. The neurostimulation is configured to at least one of increase parasympathetic activity or decrease sympathetic activity within the patient. In some examples, a patient response to the neurostimulation therapy may be detected to modify the neurostimulation therapy. The patient response may include, for example, changes in the contractility of a heart of the patient, changes in the heart rate, heart rate variability or blood pressure of the patient, changes in a bladder size of the patient, changes in bladder functional activity of the patient, changes in urine flow, changes in lung function, changes in lung composition, or changes in the nerve activity of the patient.

摘要: A device and method of detecting the severity of myocardial ischemia and heart attack risk is provided. The method includes obtaining an electrogram signal, determining T-wave measurements based on the electrogram signal, and determining ST segment measurements based on the electrogram signal. The method also includes identifying T-wave alternans based on the T-wave measurements and identifying ST segment changes based on the ST segment measurements. The method further includes correlating the T-wave alternans with the ST segment changes in order to detect a severity of ischemia.

摘要: According to the present invention at least a pair of neurological stimulation electrodes are disposed in, on, about, adjacent and/or within excitable neural tissue of a subject. Cardiac activity of a patient is detected using one or more electrodes adapted for delivery of a neurological stimulation therapy (NST). Following detection of certain types of cardiac activity one or more of the plurality of stimulation electrodes deliver or withhold NST, if desired in synchrony with the cardiac activity or in response to the detected cardiac activity. The NST delivered includes without limitation subcutaneous stimulation, peripheral, TENS and/or vagal nerve stimulation therapy or the like.
