摘要: A matrix type display panel is disclosed which comprises a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of source lines normal to the gate lines, a pair of substates with one carrying a thin film transistor (TFT) array including a plurality of TFTs one for each of the intersections of the gate and source lines and the other carrying a common electrode and liquid crystal material interposed between the TFT array and the common electrode. The common electrode is supplied with the voltage of which the waveform is different between odd scanning frames and during even scanning frames. In a write mode, the source line is supplied with a pair of positive and negative pulses during the odd scanning frames and with the zero voltage during the even scanning frames. In a non-write mode, on the other hand, the source line is supplied with the zero voltage during the even scanning frames and with a pair of positive and negative pulses during the odd scanning frames.

摘要: A multi-layered liquid crystal display device has a stack of liquid crystal layers. Each of the liquid crystal layers is disposed in such an orientation vector between each pair of plates as to bring its good display contrast area following the conversion of the molecular alignment into agreement with each other with regard to a whole display area.

摘要: An electrode structure on a matrix type liquid crystal display panel includes M column electrodes and N row electrodes both of which cross each other at a right angle to define picture elements via a layer of liquid crystal material. The matrix shaped electrode structure is such that a third picture element C (X.sub.m ', X.sub.n ') is located between a first picture element A (X.sub.m, Y.sub.n) and a second picture element B (X.sub.m+1, Y.sub.n+1), wherein 1.ltoreq.m.ltoreq.M and 1.ltoreq.n.ltoreq.N, thus enhancing resolution in vertical and horizontal directions. A diamond shape is exemplary of the possible shapes of the picture elements wherein each pair of the diagonally disposed corners are connected to that of their adjacent elements.

摘要: A method for making a multi-layered liquid crystal display panel is provided herein. More particularly, the method enables double-sided rubbing on at least one of a plurality of stacked glass supports and avoids possible flaws in a rubbed surface through the utilization of a protective coating covering the rubbed surface, thus providing liquid crystal display panels with excellent image quality. The protective coating is of sufficient mechanical strength and easily removable by means of a remover.

摘要: In an electrochromic display comprising a back plate electrode, a plurality of display electrodes, and a reference electrode available for maintaining the potential of the respective display electrodes at a fixed value, there is provided a detector for sensing the counter electromotive force which is developed between the display electrodes and the reference electrode in a manner such that there is created a remarkable difference in the output voltage signal thereof between in the colored state and in the bleached state. Therefore, the output signal from the detector indicates whether the electrochromic display is held in the colored state or the bleached state.

摘要: A driving system is provided for an electrochromic display device in which the coloration state is maintained for several hours through several days of the removal of the coloration voltage as long as the electrochromic display device is held in an electrically opened state. The electrochromic display device includes a predetermined number of display segments, each of the combinations of the display segments defining a different one of the desired display patterns. The display segments placed in the coloration state are electrically connected to each other during the memory period in order to uniform the coloration degree of each of the selected display segments. In a preferred form, a detection means is provided for detecting the potential of the selected display segments, which are held in the memory coloration state. The write-in, or, coloration operation is again conducted when the potential of the selected display segments becomes higher than a preselected level.

摘要: A drive system is provided for an electrochromic display which includes an electrochromic material, a display pattern electrode and a counter electrode. The electrochromic phenomenon, or, reversible variations in the light absorption properties are developed when a predetermined voltage is applied between the display pattern electrode and the counter electrode. An erase pulse is applied to a bleached state display pattern electrode when a certain display pattern is held for a period longer than a memory period of the electrochromic display in order to regenerate the memory state and enhance the visibility.

摘要: A glass substrate for supporting an electroluminescent (EL) display element comprising two dielectric layers defining a thin film EL layer, and two electrode layers, attached to each of the two dielectric layers is characterized by being composed of barosilicic acid without hydrolytic products thereon. A method for preparing such a glass substrate comprises the steps of preparing a glass substrate composed of borosilic acid, grinding a surface of the glass substrate, and cleaning the surface of the glass substrate without soaking it in an acidic solution, so that the glass substrate is free from formed hydrolytic products on the surface.
