    摘要: A method for making a multi-layered liquid crystal display panel is provided herein. More particularly, the method enables double-sided rubbing on at least one of a plurality of stacked glass supports and avoids possible flaws in a rubbed surface through the utilization of a protective coating covering the rubbed surface, thus providing liquid crystal display panels with excellent image quality. The protective coating is of sufficient mechanical strength and easily removable by means of a remover.

    摘要: A system is disclosed for driving a segmented type liquid crystal display comprising a thin film transistor (TFT) array including a plurality of TFTs each having a gate line, a source line, and a drain line, a pair of substrates with one carrying the thin film transistor array coupled to a plurality of segmented display electrodes and the other carrying a common electrode opposite to the segmented display electrodes, a liquid crystal material interposed between the pair of substrates. The system is characterized by a source line and drain line driving circuit for driving the source line and the drain line with a first voltage waveform and a second voltage waveform in such a manner that the ratio of the first voltage amplitude to the second voltage is so selected that both charging and discharging voltages in the forward and backward directions are zero when the TFTs are off.In another aspect of the segmented type display of the present invention, there is additionally provided a separating element for separating the thin film transistor array from the liquid crystal material. In a further aspect, the plurality of pairs of the segmented display electrodes and the common electrodes are allotted equally to each of the pair of substrates.

    摘要: Two or more liquid crystal units are disclosed herein to provide a greater area liquid crystal display panel. Each of the liquid crystal display units has a front support and a back support both of which are adhesively attached to each other via a proper seal resin applied on the supports along all but one side or along all but two opposite sides thereof. In an edge portion including the sides where no seal resin is applied, there is formed an opening for injection of liquid crystal material into a cavity defined between the two supports. After injection of the liquid crystal material the opening is pre-sealed with the adhesive material which may be solidified through thermal treatment or light treatment. The edge portions of the two liquid crystal display panels are situated in contact relationship with each other and bonded together by the use of the adhesive material which may be solidified through thermal treatment or light treatment.

    摘要: An improved electrode assembly is disclosed herein especially for use in a matrix type liquid crystal display panel, which assures exact alignment of picture elements and increased yield of manufacture regardless of disalignment between scanning electrodes and signal electrodes in the electrode assembly. The display panel includes a first support carrying a plurality of the scanning electrodes, a second support carrying a plurality of the signal electrodes and disposed to face the first support and a layer of liquid crystal material interposed between the first and second supports. The signal electrodes are divided into an upper block and a lower block and the scanning electrodes are used in common for the upper and lower blocks. Pursuant to the present invention, the width of division between the upper and lower blocks of the signal electrodes is smaller than the spacing of the scanning electrodes.
