    摘要: A method of dip-coating a segmented multifocal lens (1) having a segment with a curved portion and a straight line portion, includes the steps of: placing the lens (1) on a basket support (21); immersing the lens (1) vertically in a coating solution bath (16); and withdrawing the lens (1) vertically from the bath (16); wherein the step of placing the lens (1) is performed such that the straight line portion of the lens (1) is in a vertical plane; and wherein, before or during the step of immersing the lens (1), the lens (1) is inclined to an inclined position between a vertical position and a horizontal position of the lens (1), in which inclined position the segment is downwardly inclined and the straight line portion of the segment remains in the vertical plane.

    摘要: A self-service eyewear ordering kiosk is disclosed. Customers may order eyewear at the kiosk without requiring assistance from retail sales associates or from optical professionals. Sample eyewear frames are available at the kiosk for the customer to try on and to select a desired frame style. A user interface on the kiosk accepts customer eyewear data, such as a selected frame style code and an optical prescription. The kiosk also includes a camera that is used to capture images of the customer. The images are used to calculate at least one eyewear parameter on the customer, such as a pupillary distance. A lorgnette or other reference device is held to the customer's face to provide a reference for the eyewear parameter calculations.

    摘要: The invention relates to a process for the manufacturing of an optical article comprising forming a multilayered coating on at least one face of an uncoated or coated substrate,and forming on the outermost layer of said multilayered coating, a layer-by-layer (LbL) coating exposed to environment, said LbL coating comprising at least two bilayers, each bilayer being formed successively by: i) applying a first layer composition comprising at least one compound A having a first electrical charge; ii) applying, directly onto the first layer resulting from i),a second layer composition comprising at least one compound B having a second electrical charge, said second electrical charge being opposite to said first electrical charge; iii) repeating at least once steps i) and ii), with the provisos that: -each of compounds A and B is independently chosen from polysaccharide polymers and colloids of metal oxide such as TiO2 and ZrO2 or silicon oxide, with the proviso that at least one of the compounds A and B is a polysaccharide polymer,—each of said compounds A and B is positively or negatively charged respectively, and d) crosslinking the first and second layers of said bilayers of the LbL coating by treatment with an aqueous composition comprising at least tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl) orthosilicate (THEOS) as crosslinking agent to induce chemical linkages between compounds A and B. The invention also relates to the optical substrate obtained according to this process.
