摘要： A color liquid crystal display includes a cholesteric liquid crystal layer for selectively reflecting at high efficiency circularly polarized light having a specific wavelength, for example, a wavelength corresponding to red, blue or green, a birefringent layer formed on the liquid crystal layer, and a polarize plate formed on the birefringent layer. The birefringent layer includes a pair of electrodes and a nematic liquid crystal layer formed between the electrodes. Circularly polarized light of a specific wavelength that is selectively reflected by the cholesteric liquid crystal layer has its vibration direction rotated by retardation of the birefringent layer 20 when an electric field is not applied to the liquid crystal. When an electric field is applied to the liquid crystal layer, the reflected circularly polarized light is directly transmitted through the birefringent layer. The polarize plate blocks or transmits light according to the vibration direction of the light transmitted through the birefringent layer. This liquid crystal display has high usage efficiency of light and displays color clearly.

摘要： In a cordless telephone apparatus including a base unit and a sub unit connected with each other by wireless, the base unit has a memory for storing therein telephone number data which are referred to from the sub unit. When the base unit is busy, the transfer of a calling signal between the sub and base units is not performed. The access from the sub unit to the memory of the base unit is always permitted. The memory includes a callers area in which the telephone numbers of callers of received calls and the reception times of the calls are stored and a directory area in which frequently called telephone numbers and the number of placing calls of the numbers are stored. The telephone numbers in the callers area are retrieved based on the reception times. The telephone numbers in the directory area are retrieved based on the numbers of placing calls. By adding the number of placing calls of the telephone number stored in the callers area to the number of placing calls of the telephone number stored in the directory area, the telephone number retrieval from the directory area functions correctly. Moreover, by using the cordless telephone apparatus as a terminal apparatus of a private telephone system, data stored in a main apparatus of the system are referred to from the sub unit of the terminal apparatus.

摘要： A baseband signal generator according to the present invention performs differential encoding and mapping processings for a digital baseband signal and limits bandwidths of the obtained symbol mapping data of an I phase and a Q phase by digital filters. Each digital filter includes a circuit for accumulating symbol mapping data corresponding to a plurality of symbol sections, a plurality of ROMs provided corresponding to the plurality of symbol sections for storing symbol data corresponding to a predetermined filter waveform, and an adder for adding symbol data output from there ROMs. The adder outputs a digital baseband signal whose bandwidth is limited, which signal is converted into an analog baseband signal by a D/A converter and supplied to an analog modulation unit.

摘要： A field effect type liquid crytal display device suitable for use in a high level multiplexing drive, has liquid crystal molecules twisted with an angle from 180.degree. to 350.degree. which are held between two polarizers. The liquid crystal display device generates an interference color due to a birefringent effect of liquid crystal. The occurrence the of this interference color can be prevented by laminating color compensation plates but if the thickness of the optical system increases, a deviation in a display position or a change in the contrast occurs dependent on the observing direction. A phase compensation for the color interference of the liquid crystal is achieved by setting the retardation of the liquid crystal cells having a large twist angle of the liquid crystal molecules and by laminating thin phase plates. Thus, the display quality is improved and the optical axis of an achromatic display can be easily adjusted.

摘要： An air conditioner comprises a control portion and a refrigeration system wherein a compressor, a condenser, an expansion device and an evaporator are connected in a refrigerant flow relationship. The control portion compares the temperature measured by a room temperature sensor with the temperature set by a temperature setting switch. For heating, the compressor is stopped when the room temperature rises higher than the set temperature, and for cooling, the compressor is stopped when the room temperature falls lower than the set temperature. A special switch is installed in the control portion, and when this switch is operated, responsively the range of the temperature set by the temperature setting switch is changed. More specifically, when the switch is operated at heating the control portion lowers the upper limit of the temperature set by the temperature setting switch and at cooling, the lower limit of the temperature is heightened by the control portion. Thereby the capacity of heating or cooling of the air conditioner is reduced, therefore an over cooling at cooling and an over heating at heating can be prevented.
