摘要: The invention provides methods and apparatus for cooling (or heating) feet by use of air movers and/or thermoelectric heat exchangers within footwear. The invention employs heat exchangers with no moving parts and a flat form factor, such as Peltier heat exchangers, directly within the sole and/or heel of the footwear. Alternately or additionally, the inventive footwear may employ air movers with no moving parts and a flat, flexible form factor, such as ionic air movers, disposed directly within the sole and/or heel in fluid communication with the interior of the footwear. The sole and/or heel of the footwear may include air channels in communication with the environment outside of the shoe via air inlet and/or outlet openings in the heel and/or sole. The invention may further include electronics and wireless technology for monitoring the climate within the footwear and issue alerts to the wearer or others.

摘要: A shoe insert to be used for cooling the foot to be manufactured and sold as pairs of left and right shoe inserts. The insert has a number of components forming a sandwich. The insert has the shape of a shoe, and is partly adjustable in size to fit a range of shoe sizes. So, the inserts may be sold in sizes, for example, small, medium, and large, and these sizes may then be fine tuned to fit a sub-range of shoe sizes. The inner volume is separated by a pressure breakable seam approximately at the instep which ruptures when pressure is applied. The seam effectively divides the interior volume into two compartments. One compartment contains a liquid and the other contains a chemical substance. When the seam is ruptured, the liquid flows from one compartment into the other compartment. When the chemical substance combines with the liquid, an endothermic reaction occurs which causes cooling of the foot. The bottom component of the cushioned layer has round dimples into which a dry chemical can be placed. Cooling can be accomplished, for example, by combining ammonium nitrate with water. Adding polyacrylamide into the mix will cause a gel to form in the insert.

摘要: This invention provides, e.g., temperature regulated clothing with a thermoelectric module that can be configured to transfer heat to or from the inside of the clothing. The clothing can include, e.g., a control system to maintain a desired internal clothing temperature. The clothing can have, e.g., a circulating coolant system to enhance the rate and/or efficiency of heat transfer.

摘要: A therapeutic boot, for providing hot or cold therapy to the foot of a patient. The boot has a sole and an upper portion, whereupon a plurality of protuberances are located. The protuberances are made of or filled with a thermal substance which is capable of maintaining a heated or cooled state. Once the boot is initially heated or cooled, the foot is placed therein. When the protuberances contact the foot, heating or cooling of the contacted area is effected, and will continue for a prolonged period of time.

摘要: A thermal foot pad assembly includes a foot pad that is insertable into an article of footwear and the foot pad is positioned beneath a user's foot when the user wears the article of footwear. A plurality of pouches is each integrated into the foot pad and each of the plurality of pouches is filled with a thermally conductive gel to cool the user's foot when the user steps on the plurality of pouches. A toe pad is attached to the foot pad and the toe pad is strategically positioned on the foot pad. The toe pad is positioned beneath the user's toes when the user wears the article of footwear. Furthermore, the toe pad is comprised of a thermally conductive material to absorb heat from the user's toes thereby cooling the user's toes.

摘要: A personal cooling device that provides cooling to a user, e.g., a wearer's feet, assuring even temperature distribution across contoured surfaces irrespective of the orientation of the personal cooling device and regardless of the pull of gravity. The personal cooling device includes a flexible non-porous upper component, a flexible non-porous lower component, a porous absorbent carrier component, at least one dry chemical reactant and at least one containment including at least one liquid reactant. The carrier component includes at least one dry chemical reactant distributed on the surface area thereof. When the at least one dry chemical reactant is combined with the at least one liquid chemical reactant and is absorbed by the carrier component, an endothermic reaction is produced. The carrier component absorbs the resulting cool substance evenly distributed thereover and, thereby assures equal distribution of this actual cooling throughout the entire device. The at least one containment is adapted to rupture under applied pressure. The upper and lower components are inseparably sealed to each other at their respective perimeters, the attachment forming a volume adapted to encapsulate the carrier component, the at least one dry chemical reactant and the at least one containment.
