Abstract:
A method of screening for compounds that module expression of specific macromolecules, the “target”. The method is particularly useful in that it does not require separation of target-bound and excess ligand and therefore enables, but is not limited to, High Throughput Screening for compounds that increase or decrease the levels or amounts of a target present in a biological sample. The method can also be used for high-throughput diagnosis of a condition leading to an increase or decrease of a cellular macromolecule.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions are provided for treating an individual having cancer. Aspects of the methods include administering to the individual an inhibitor of a non-canonical Notch signaling pathway gene in an amount effective to treat the cancer. Also provided are reagents, devices and kits thereof that find use in practicing the subject methods.
Abstract:
Treating subjects having a lipid storage disorder with a composition comprising a PKC activator, such as bryostatins, bryologs, and polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Abstract:
Provided herein are methods for treating certain conditions, including diabetes, obesity, and other metabolic diseases, disorders or conditions by administrating a composition comprising a a biguanide or related heterocyclic compound, e.g., metformin. Also provided herein are biguanide or related heterocyclic compound compositions, and methods for the preparation thereof for use in the methods of the present invention. Also provided herein are compositions comprising metformin and salts thereof and methods of use.
Abstract:
The subject invention relates to improved tocopheryl quinone derivatives and tocopherol derivatives having improved pharmacokinetics in vivo that can, in some embodiments, be useful in the treatment of Lysosomal Storage Disorders, restoration of normal mitochondrial ATP production, modulation of intracellular calcium ion concentration and other treatments or therapies. The tocopheryl quinone derivatives and tocopherol derivatives have side chains that have terminally halogenated carbon atoms.
Abstract:
Natural pain relief and muscle recovery compositions having a wide variety of topical applications are provided. In certain embodiments, the pain relief composition includes moringa leaf, moringa oil, a gamma linolenic acid (GLA) source, and a capsaicin source.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods for predicting the efficacy of eribulin, an analog thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof (e.g., eribulin mesylate), in the treatment of a subject suffering from breast cancer by determining the level of particular biomarkers in a sample derived from the subject.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed toward a method of treating a subject for a condition mediated by aberrant Wnt/β-catenin signaling by selecting a subject with a condition mediated by aberrant Wnt/β-catenin signaling and administering to the selected subject a compound selected from the group consisting of those set forth in Table 1, Table 2, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. A method of similarly modulating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in a subject is also discussed.
Abstract:
This invention pertains to an anti-microbial, in particular anti-bacterial and/or anti-fungal composition comprising cinnamaldehyde, trans-2-methoxycinnamaldehyde, cinnamyl acetate and linalool. In particular this composition is intended for preventing and/or treating microbial infection in an animal.
