Abstract: An article support adapted for adhering to a substrate is described. The article support preferably includes a base member, a stretch release adhesive tape adhered to that base member, and some mechanism for gripping the stretch release adhesive tape. These items are arranged so that when the base member is adhered to the substrate by the stretch release adhesive tape, the base member can be removed by pulling on the gripping means at an acute angle from the surface of the substrate. Gripping means which resist disassociation from the stretch release adhesive tape during the removal of the base from the substrate are disclosed, including handle types. The base member can be generic, suitable for attaching various types of support members via, for example, complimentary dovetail slides. In such cases, provision such as a latch can be made to temporarily lock the support member to the base member. The article support can be provided so that when the support member is removed from the base member, the gripping mechanism engages the support member to automatically stretch the tape and remove the base member from the substrate.

Abstract: An adhesive tape construction is removable from one or more objects to which it is adhered and which is reusably separable within its construction so that an object can be separated from another and subsequently reconnected with one another. The adhesive tape construction can be used to bond the other opposed surfaces of objects, including rigid objects such as a picture frame to a wall, where no portion of the adhesive tape construction projects from between the objects, and which subsequently affords easy separation of the objects without damage to either of them. More specifically, the adhesive tape construction includes a stretch release adhesive tape structure combined with a reusable connector surface.

Abstract: A packaging tape includes a plastic film formed in a continuous length, and having first and second edges along the continuous length, and further having first and second portions continuously along the length adjacent the first and second edges, respectively. An adhesive is applied to both the first and second portions. Means for deadening the adhesive is applied to the first portion, whereby the first portion forms a continuous pull-tab along the length of the tape to facilitate removal of the tape. Ink is applied to the first portion for displaying tape removal instructions. A method of manufacturing the tape is also provided.

Abstract: A tape laminate comprising a support layer having first and second parts, and an anchor portion of one of its opposite major surfaces on each of the parts. The first and second parts of the support layer are disposed with the anchor portions on opposite sides of the support layer and in generally parallel relationship. The anchor portions can be bonded to the opposed surfaces of rigid objects so that the tape laminate supports one object from the other against a static force generally parallel to the anchor portions. One of those bonds is made by an attachment strip having a portion of its outer major surface defined by pressure sensitive adhesive and its inner major surface bonded to one of the anchor portions, and a manually engageable tab portion at one end. The attachment strip is stretchable by pulling its tab portion to release adhesive engagement of its outer major surface from an object to which it is adhered. The first and second parts of the support layer can be torn apart or pivoted away from each other to afford separation of rigid objects to which the anchor portions are bonded, thereby affording access to that tab portion and separation of the attachment strip from one of the rigid objects by stretching the attachment strip.

Abstract: A tape comprising a biaxially-oriented backing made from a polymeric film bearing on one major surface thereof a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive and on the other major surface thereof a layer of low-adhesion backsize composition. The backing and the layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive intermix so as to form a commingled layer between them. This invention also provides a process of preparing pressure-sensitive adhesive tape comprising the steps of (1) providing an extruded polymeric film backing, (2) orienting said backing in the machine direction, (3) applying a low-adhesion backsize layer to one major surface of said backing, (4) applying a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer to the major surface of said backing not bearing the low-adhesion backsize layer, (5) orienting the layer-bearing backing in the transverse direction by heating and cross-stretching the layer-bearing backing, (6) winding the machine direction oriented, transverse direction oriented, layer-bearing backing onto a roll, and (7) optionally, converting the machine direction oriented, transverse direction oriented, layer-bearing backing to form a tape.

Abstract: A stretch release adhesive is disclosed. The stretch release adhesive can be used for extracting an electrical component from an interior surface of a housing of a mobile computing device. The stretch release adhesive can have a double-sided adhesive body configured to adhere the component to the interior surface of the housing. A portion of the double-sided adhesive body is configured to extend out from between the electrical component and the interior surface of the housing to provide a graspable portion. When the stretch release adhesive is adhered between the electrical component and the internal surface of the housing, the stretch release adhesive can receive a pulling force at the graspable portion. If pulled with enough force, the stretch release adhesive will extend outwardly from between the electrical component and the internal surface of the mobile computing device, then completely release the electrical component from the mobile computing device.

Abstract: A double pull tab stretch releasing adhesive tape having first and second pull tabs residing at first and second distal ends of an extensible tensile sheet. The first and second pull tabs have a plurality of anti-slip grip regions that enable a secure gripping hold by an end user. The double pull tab stretch releasing adhesive tape attaches two substrates together and is removed by simultaneously pulling the first and second pull tabs in opposing directions to generate a two-way stretching force along the longitudinal length. This force is exerted on and stretches the extensible tensile sheet to distort the first adhesive for removal of the double pull tab stretch releasing adhesive tape from the first substrate without the end user touching any substrates.
