The adhesive layer is disposed on one side of the tape base layer in the thickness direction and includes a predetermined adhesive. The separation layer is disposed on the other side of the tape base layer in the thickness direction and includes a silicon separating agent, an olefin resin separating agent, or an acrylic resin separating agent having a long-chain alkyl group.
Abstract:
A protective film including at least one surface which serves as a protective barrier that releaseably covers at least a portion of an object.
Abstract:
A noiseless, printable self-adhesive tape comprises a substrate in the form of an olefinic polymer film, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on one face of the substrate, and a printable, non-stick layer on the other face of the substrate. The non-stick layer is formed by a composition including a chlorinated olefinic resin and an acrylic resin in which the ratio by weight of the acrylic resin to the chlorinated olefinic resin may vary from 4:1 to 1:4. The composition also includes from 0.1 to 2 parts by weight of a non-stick agent per 100 parts by weight of the sum of the first two components, the non-stick agent being prepared by the reaction of an alkyl isocyanate with polyvinyl alcohol and a reactive silicon compound.
Abstract:
A tape comprising a biaxially-oriented backing made from a polymeric film bearing on one major surface thereof a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive and on the other major surface thereof a layer of low-adhesive backsize composition. The backing and the layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive intermix so as to form a commingled layer between them. This invention also provides a process of preparing pressure-sensitive adhesive tape comprising the steps of (1) providing an extruded polymeric film backing, (2) orienting said backing in the machine direction, (3) applying a low-adhesive backsize layer to one major surface of said backing, (4) applying a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer to the major surface of said backing not bearing the low-adhesion backsize layer, (5) orienting the layer-bearing backing in the transverse direction by heating and cross-stretching the layer-bearing backing, (6) winding the machine direction oriented, transverse direction oriented, layer-bearing backing onto a roll, and (7) optionally, converting the machine direction oriented, transverse direction oriented, layer-bearing backing to form a tape.
Abstract:
A release film comprising an oriented film substrate having an abherent surface layer comprising a chain extended polyurethane resin derived from an isocyanate-reactive polydialkyl siloxane.A preferred substrate is a biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate film, and the release film is of particular utility in the production of asphalt roofing materials.
Abstract:
Directly printable tape comprising a polymeric film backing having a low adhesion backsize coating on one major surface thereof and a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the other major surface thereof. The low adhesion backsize coating comprises a mixture of a low adhesion backsize compound and an ink adhesion promoter. The disclosure further involves a method of printing on the low adhesion backsize coating and an ink composition. The ink comprises a conventional flexographic ink composition containing an ink adhesion promoter.
Abstract:
Aqueous release backsize compositions are provided which when applied to films provide easy unwind properties without adversely affecting the adhesive properties of pressure-sensitive tapes.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a frameless photo-energy assembly including a photo-energy converter, wherein an edge of the photo-energy converter is sealed by an adhesive tape, comprising an adhering layer for adhesion and cushioning; and an aging-resistant protective layer. The adhering layer is used to contact the edge of an article and comprises: a substrate layer; optionally, a first adhesive layer and a second adhesive layer situated at both sides of the substrate layer oppositely, wherein the first adhesive layer being used to be contact with the article. The aging-resistant protective layer is situated on the adhering layer, which comprises: an optional primer layer, which is situated on the adhering layer; and a film layer, which is situated on either the primer layer or the substrate or the second adhesive layer. The present disclosure further provides an adhesive tape for sealing an edge of an article and an article made of the assembly.
Abstract:
A composite sheet of a flexible release liner, which is useful in high speed operations is described. The release liner is coated on one side with a crosslinkable high release coating formulation comprising (a) a silicone-acrylate release component; (b) an acrylate-containing crosslinking agent, such as a silicone-acrylate crosslinking agent having a higher acrylate content than the (a) silicone-acrylate, trimethylolpropane triacrylate or epoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate; and (c) an acrylic ester monomer or oligomer selected from the group consisting of octyl acrylate, isodecyl acrylate, stearyl acrylate and lauryl acrylate, specifically the (c) acrylate is free of silicone and more than two acrylate groups per molecule.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to an article comprising a backing layer, at least one pressure sensitive adhesive layer, and an aqueous release coating layer, wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive layer is affixed to at least one side of the backing layer and the aqueous release coating layer comprises a polymer, preferably having acid functionality, and an aqueous solution or dispersion of an organic compound having at least one fatty acid ester and at least one quaternary amine, such as lecithin.A method of making the release coated article is also disclosed. The aqueous release coating layer which does not migrate into the pressure sensitive adhesive layer and interfere with the adhesive properties of the pressure sensitive adhesive permits the pressure sensitive adhesive layer to be easily separated from the backing layer.
