Abstract:
An integrated gas strut actuator strut assembly particularly adapted for providing power actuation of a motor vehicle lift gate or other opening closure. The system integrates the function of a counterbalancing gas spring and that of a electrically powered actuator. The system incorporates a strut assembly including a gas charged cylinder, and internal plunger and a threaded rod. Rotation of the threaded rod through a cable drive system causes the internal plunger to be advanced or retracted within the cylinder. Another feature of the invention are various embodiments of couplers between the gas cylinder plunger and rod and connectors for the assembly to the vehicle.
Abstract:
In a vehicle door having a retractable window pane, there is provided an improved window regulator for moving the window pane between its full-open position and its full-closed position. The window regulator comprises an elongate plate secured to the door, the plate being formed with at least one guide rail which extends obliquely, at least one slider slidably engaged with the guide rail, a carrier secured to the window pane and mounting thereon the slider, so that the movement of the slider along the guide rail induces the movement of the window pane, guide means permitting the window pane to pivot during the movement of the same, a flexible wire connected at a portion thereof to the carrier, so that the movement of the wire induces the movement of the carrier and thus the window pane, and a drive unit mounted to the door for driving the wire.
Abstract:
A device for a power opening tailgate of a vehicle includes an attachment means mountable to a vehicle wall at a first side of the vehicle wall for supporting a working cylinder for opening the tailgate, and a component for reinforcement of the vehicle wall. The reinforcement component is mountable to the vehicle wall at a second side of the vehicle wall, which second side is opposite to the first side of the vehicle wall, and the attachment means and the reinforcement component are mechanically connectable to each other via a through hole of the vehicle wall.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes a hinge assembly for use in a hinged attachment of a panel relative to a frame and providing movement of the panel relative to the frame. A link which provides an extension or reach motion and positioning of the assembly, shown for purposes of illustration and not limitation in the form of a gooseneck arm, is provided in the hinge assembly to facilitate an extended range of motion of the hinge assembly. A first spherical bearing assembly and a second spherical bearing assembly are operatively associated with a bearing end of the link to provide multiple degrees of motion while securely retaining the panel relative to the frame. The hinge is intended to provide universal application of a single version of a hinge which can be used in multiple locations as facilitated by the multiple degrees of motion provided by the bearing end of the link.
Abstract:
A joining element for connecting a first component to a second component, wherein the joining element includes a connection member for the pivotable mounting of the first component, and part of the connection member is receivable in at least one aperture of the second component in a predetermined orientation. A fixing mechanism is provided for directly fixing the connection member to the second component when the part of the connection member received in the aperture.
Abstract:
A motorized door opener for a vehicle (such as a military or security vehicle), featuring a sensor system that determines door position to prevent door damage while the opener is in operation. The opener features an offset gear system that effectively changes the door's rotation point. Mechanical advantage is gained by using a lengthened lever arm with the gear system, providing increased leverage and allowing the motor to provide enough force to open and close a heavily armored door. The opener can use existing door hinges, and can be provided so as not to protrude into the door space, in order to facilitate passenger and equipment entry/exit through the doors. A safety release mechanism is included in some embodiments, allowing the door to be manually opened or closed.
Abstract:
A safety release mechanism for use with a ball screw type linear motor, featuring a lock lever that can be manually engaged or disengaged. Engaging the lock lever rigidly fixes a telescoping arm, allowing the motor to retract or extend the arm into a cover tube. Disengaging the lock lever allows the telescoping arm to rotate freely in the cover tube. One embodiment of the safety release mechanism is used with a motorized door assist mechanism, however, the release mechanism has many applications beyond a door opener, and can be used in any application requiring a linear motor with a telescoping arm, where in order for the motor to extend or retract the arm, one end of the arm must be fixedly held in place.

Abstract:
A gas spring is mounted through a unique mount structure including a socket joint. The socket joint is mounted in a yoke for rotation through 180° about an axis of the yoke. The inventive structure provides greater freedom of movement than the prior art, and in many applications will allow rotation for more than 180°.
