Several terminal receiving cavities are arranged inside the housing and extend parallel to one another in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the housing. An insertion chamber is defined by wall sections of the terminal receiving cavities and serves for inserting the secondary locking element from the mating side.     摘要: A blind fastener that is installed from one side only of a hole in a plate structure wherein the blind fastener has a tubular body with a head portion and a sleeve journaled in the tubular body.     摘要: An installation system for securing workpieces of composite type materials and including a fastener adapted to be located in aligned bores in such workpieces with a preselected interference fit, with the fastener comprising a pin having an elongated shank, an enlarged head and enlarged diameter smooth shank section adjacent the pin head, and further having a threaded section extending from the smooth shank section to a breakneck groove located in the shank to define a frangible portion at its free end, the breakneck groove adapted to fracture at a preselected axial load of generally low magnitude, a thin gauged expansion sleeve having an inside diameter less than the diameter of the smooth shank section, the sleeve having an outside diameter permitting the assembly of the sleeve into the workpiece bores with a snug fit, the breakneck groove having an axial strength at least equal to the maximum axial load required to pull the pin member fully into the sleeve with the smooth pin shank section expanding the sleeve into the workpiece bores to provide the preselected interference fit, the breakneck groove having an axial strength no greater than a preselected low percentage greater than the axial load whereby the frangible portion of the shank can be severed at a minimal axial load applying a member to the frangible portion to pull the pin member into the sleeve and then severing the frangible portion separately from the final installation of the fastener.

    摘要: An improved assembly for mounting a part onto a base member is provided by incorporating a tubular insert having a hollow inner core in a mounting hole in the part. A fastener, such as a bolt, machine screw or rivet may then be inserted through the insert in the mounting hole for attachment to the base member. When the assembly is subjected to axial compression by the fastener, the insert collapses uniformly in an axial direction to absorb a substantial amount of the total compressive load exerted upon tightening the fastener.

    摘要: A releasable stud-type fastener adapted to be turnable in and extend through an opening of a panel and project therefrom at right angles so as to be receivable in an aligned opening of another panel which has a larger hole or opening. The fastener comprises a smooth-shanked headed stud having at one end a slotted or flatted head or enlargement adapted to be engaged by a tool for the purpose of turning the stud after it occupies the aligned holes of the panels with its head in engagement with the one panel. On its shank the stud carries a soft rubber bushing or sleeve having a normal outside diameter small enough to pass through the larger opening of the second panel but too large to pass through the first panel which can thereby be gripped between the rubber sleeve and stud head. In addition to the rubber sleeve on the stud shank there are two annular or rotary cam collars having facing camming surfaces which are engageable with each other to move the collars apart in response to relative rotary motion. The back end of one of the cam collars (which is turnable on the stud) is engaged with one end of the (also turnable) rubber sleeve, and the other cam collar is drivingly affixed to the small end of the stud. The outside diameters of the cam collars are also small enough to pass through the large hole of the second panel. Normally the cam collars and rubber sleeve hold the stud perpendicular to the face of the first panel. To secure the two panels together, that with the large hole is slipped over the cam collars and the rubber bushing and brought against the panel on which the fastener is mounted. The fastener stud is then turned by an appropriate tool such as a screwdriver or wrench. This drives or turns the affixed cam collar, and causes relative turning movement between the collars whereby they separate in such a manner that the rubber bushing is axially compressed and enlarged radially. The radial enlargement makes its outside diameter or circumference larger than the large hole through which it was passed (in the second mentioned panel), whereby the latter will now be securely gripped and held tightly against the first panel. Small interlocking shoulders on the cam surfaces of the cam collars maintain the same in their locking position separated from each other and expanding the rubber bushing. To release the panels, the stud head is merely turned in the opposite direction, forcing opposite relative turning of the cams to occur, which enable them to move toward each other, this being accompanied by restoration of the rubber sleeve to its normal diametric size whereby the panel with the large opening can now be readily slipped from the sleeve and cam collars so as to be released from the other panel.
