摘要: The disclosed inventions comprise a device that may be mechanically and electrically associated with a typical lighting fixture found in a building or home, has low power consumption, provide a typical lighting when such lighting fixture is providing power to the device and comprises a battery backup to provide an emergency lighting feature when the power is out. The device may further be removed from the lighting fixture and used as a typical flashlight. The device may further be electrically and remotely associated with devices such as cell phones and systems such as alarm systems to provide emergency services.

The utility light comprises a first array of light sources having a first color facing in a first direction, a second array of light sources having a second color facing in a second direction that substantially opposes the first direction, a motion sensor, and an electronic controller to receive a rotation motion input from the motion sensor, wherein the rotation motion input provides an indication of rotation of the utility light about an axis substantially vertical to the surface of the earth, to determine a first state based on the rotation motion input, to operate the first array of light sources in the first state, to determine a second state based on the rotation motion input, and to operate the second array of light sources in the second state.

摘要: LED or other lamps that remove heat using evaporation of water or other coolant inside a lamp enclosure structure such as a glass bulb typically without the use of external heat sinks or fins. Optionally, the pressure inside the enclosure can be reduced to lower the boiling point of the coolant. One or more LEDs or other light source can be mounted on a support structure that conducts heat to an evaporation surface. A coolant, preferably water or alcohol (or a water/alcohol mixture), is included inside the structure and can be optionally wicked to the evaporation surface. Vaporized coolant condenses on the inside surface of the enclosure or bulb transferring heat to the ambient through the enclosure. The condensed liquid coolant can return to a pool in the bottom of the enclosure.

摘要: A portable lighting device and method of operating the portable lighting device are disclosed. The portable lighting device is configured to operate using a portable source of power having a plurality of modes of operation. The portable lighting device comprises a main power circuit including a light source, an inertial sensor having a plurality of signal outputs, and a controller electrically connected to the outputs of the inertial sensor and the main power circuit in a manner to permit the controller to enter into a new mode of operation based on signals received from the outputs of the inertial sensor. One method of operating the portable lighting device is by positioning the portable lighting device to one of a plurality of predetermined positions to enter into one of a plurality of modes of operation. Each of the plurality of predetermined positions is associated with one of the plurality of modes of operation.

摘要: A method comprising (a) illuminating a blood vessel in a relatively low-light surgical field by inserting a subcutaneous light source into tissue near the blood vessel and to a first location in the tissue underlying the blood vessel, and causing emission of light from the subcutaneous light source while the subcutaneous light source is at the first location, so that light from the subcutaneous light source passes through the tissue near the blood vessel, toward an observer; (b) drawing a portion of the tissue near the blood vessel through an incision in the skin; and (c) illuminating the drawn portion of tissue by activating an external light source in a hands-free manner, thereby facilitating determining whether the drawn tissue is the blood vessel.
