    摘要: A multi-function transaction processing system including a transaction terminal having a data entry facility and a transaction processor, the transaction processor being communicatively associated with a control processor that defines user accounts and issues one or more authorization codes associated with the user account(s) in response to payment authorities provided at the transaction terminal utilizing a payment authority input of the data entry facility. Furthermore, a printer assembly is communicatively associated with the transaction terminal and generates a card assembly, the card assembly including a first portion containing the authorization code thereon, a second portion including additional promotional materials thereon, and an indicator structured to signify to the printer assembly the orientation of the card assembly relative thereto so as to prevent improper printing. The user account as defined by the control assembly, includes a defined value, the authorization code provided being utilized to facilitate a transaction in accordance with that defined value.

    摘要: The invention relates to methods and systems for connecting a caller to a content provider who provides a service to the caller over the telephone system. In accordance with the invention, a caller establishes a prepaid account with an intermediary, termed a transaction processor. When the caller wishes to access a content provider, the caller makes a telephone call to the transaction processor providing access to a plurality of content providers via a common access number. The caller identifies his prepaid account and the desired content provider. The transaction processor connects the caller to the content provider, monitors the connection between the caller and the content provider, and debits the caller's prepaid account according to the service provided by the content provider.

    摘要: An improved system for "regenerating" or adding funds to a prepaid, remote memory account. The system includes a service provider network or host computer system including an account database of prepaid accounts. An integrated transaction card is issued to a consumer. One side of the card shows a prepaid telephone card for accessing the host computer system and an authorization code that allows access to the account database. The other side of the integrated transaction card is a transaction instrument, such as a prepaid transaction card, credit card, debit card, or the like. Information relating to the transaction instrument is stored at the host system so that a consumer may transfer funds from the transaction instrument to the prepaid phone card without the host system having to prompt the consumer for the necessary transfer information.

    摘要: Prepaid smart cards which serve to procure services, for example from a public telephone, comprise a memory for value units which are debited in conformity with the service procured, i.e. are marked as having been consumed. The smart card comprises a test code circuit which generates reply data from a supplied test word in conformity with a secret algorithm. Upon use of the smart card it is thus checked whether a valid smart card is concerned. Fraud could be attempted by using a valid smart card and a test code circuit present therein in combination with a separate, manipulatable memory. In order to prevent this, the algorithm of the test code circuit is modified in dependence on the contents of the memory of the valid smart card, the smart card being checked by means of the test code circuit at least after the debiting of value units. Fraudulent use of an external memory is thus no longer possible.
