Abstract:
An image capture, conversion, compression, storage and transmission system provides a data signal representing the image in a format and protocol capable of being transmitted over any of a plurality of readily available transmission systems and received by readily available, standard equipment receiving stations. In its most comprehensive form, the system is capable of sending and receiving audio, documentary and visual image data to and from standard remote stations readily available throughout the world.
Abstract:
In facsimile-communicating an original when the Internet selection state in an operation unit is set to “automatic selection”, the original is communicated by selecting the e-mail-based Internet for an A4 original size, and the session-based Internet for a B4 or A3 original size. At the same time, the original information is transmitted in accordance with the transmission mode of its own apparatus, the encoding method determined based on the reception capability of a facsimile apparatus at a reception destination, and the receiving-side output original size and resolution.
Abstract:
When a read resolution set for a reader unit (200) is different from the transmission resolution, the read resolution is increased, and then the reader unit (200) reads an image. When the image read by the reader unit (200) contains the first encoded image obtained by encoding input information, the first encoded image is decoded to restore the input information. The restored input information is encoded at the transmission resolution to generate the second encoded image. The second encoded image is transmitted to the destination.
Abstract:
An image recording apparatus includes means for recording image data in a recording medium; means for obtaining information for determining a data amount reduction remaining force of image data recorded in the recording medium; means for selecting image data determined to have a large data amount reduction remaining force based on the information obtained by the means for obtaining information, with a priority; and means for performing a data amount reduction process against the image data selected by the means for selecting.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus, comprising: a reproducing portion, which is configured to reproduce a picture compressed with a first format; an obtain instructing portion, which is configured to instruct an obtaining of the picture reproduced by the reproducing portion; and a recording portion, which is configured to record the picture, obtaining of which is instructed by the instructing portion, wherein the recording portion determines on presence of a picture, which is compressed with a second format corresponding to the picture instructed by the instructing portion, and wherein it records the picture corresponding thereto, which is compressed with the second format, when determining it is, or records the picture instructed, by compressing it with the second format, when determining it is not.
Abstract:
Embodiments include an apparatus, device, system, computer-program product, and method. In an embodiment, a device includes a user-accessible digital storage medium, and a storage medium manager module. The storage manager module includes a storage manager module operable to save a digital image in a form in the user-accessible digital storage medium, and then alter the form of the saved digital image if a condition is met.
Abstract:
An image processing method according to the present invention includes extracting from a document image an area to be determined, calculating the number of closed loops within the extracted area, and making a determination based on the calculated number of closed loops, whether the area is a character area. This invention makes it possible to determine with a high accuracy whether an area to be determined is a character area.
Abstract:
A plurality of compression schemes are provided that achieve improved compression ratios. A first embodiment provides for compression of each pixel by one of a plurality of different entropy-based compression schemes based upon a probability cost analysis. A second embodiment provides for compression of each pixel based on a hybrid context formed using a plurality of compression schemes for improved probability determination, and thus improved entropy encoding. In embodiments of the invention, a context compression scheme similar to JBIG is applied, as well as an inverse scheme. The context scheme forms a statistical context from a concatenated sequence of previous pixel values. The inverse scheme provides a gray value estimation method based upon previous pixel values and respective threshold values. Statistics are maintained with respect to the actual current pixel value and the difference between an estimated gray value and the current pixel threshold value.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus for storing image data in a memory, reading image data stored in a memory, and generating print data, and is provided with a size designating means for designating an image size, and a memory control means for storing in memory the image data compressed by a compression method corresponding to a specified image size.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for preparing an image for downloading over a link. The method includes receiving a user selection for an image to prepare, retrieving current user settings reflective of desired settings for compressing the image and automatically presenting a plurality of variations of the image to the user where each variation is derived using compression settings that are scaled from the current user settings.
