Abstract:
A headset comprising a communications device, a sensor coupled to the communications device and operative to detect the proximity of a user's body to the sensor, a detachable ear cushion coupled to the communications device; and wherein the detachable ear cushion comprises a conductive ear cushion flange to be interposed between the sensor and the user's body for extending the detection range of the sensor.
Abstract:
An earpiece is provided containing a thermal activator layer comprised of a first polymer, the thermal activator layer being separated from the tympanic membrane of the user's ear by an air gap, and an acoustical reflector layer, containing a second polymer and pigment particles, adjacent to the thermal activator layer. The earpiece may be produced by sequential introduction of various liquefied components in layers within the ear canal, with the components being cured to provide the thermal activator layer and the acoustical reflector layer.
Abstract:
An earpiece auditory device is described which includes a behind-the-ear component shaped to fit behind the ear of a user. The behind-the-ear component can also have at least one microphone and processing circuitry, where the processing circuitry is used to processes audio signal from the microphone. The device also includes a speaker sized to fit in the ear canal of a user, and an ear mold holding the speaker in place. The ear mold can also be position to touch the bony portion of the ear canal and provide sound attenuation in the ear canal. A connector physically and electrically connects the behind-the-ear component to the speaker. The connector is capable of being used to insert and remove the speaker and ear mold from the ear canal of the user.
Abstract:
In representative embodiments, the present invention is directed to an at least partially in-the-canal module. The module may include a speaker module that generates audio signals from an electrical driving signal. The speaker module has a tubular body with a diameter that is smaller than the ear canal of the user. The speaker module also includes an arcuate raised ridge. A cushion tip of deformable material may be used to enclose the speaker module within a tubular portion that applies an elastic force to the arcuate raised ridge to prevent removal of the speaker from the cushion tip. Also, the tubular portion is longer than the speaker module to cause the cushion tip to deflect during navigation through the canal. Further, the tip portion of the cushion tip possesses sufficient structural rigidity to prevent the speaker from being pushed through the cushion tip during navigation through the canal.

Abstract:
An ear cup housing has several reference microphones, an error microphone and a speaker. A processor drives the speaker for acoustic noise cancellation and transparency, by processing the microphone signals, and performs an oversight process by adjusting the reference microphone signals in response to detecting wind noise events and scratch events. In another aspect, the ear cup housing has an outside face that is joined to an inside face by a perimeter and the reference microphones are on the perimeter. Other aspects are also described and claimed.
Abstract:
An apparatus including a multi-sensor array having a bone conduction microphone, air conduction microphone, signal processor, and speakers; a signal processor that processes vibration signal data and tonal signal data to produce combined data representative of the vocal communication to substantially reduce or eliminate noise; and a method of applying a signals optimized combination algorithm to optimize the output by intelligently combining the outputs from the two different types of sensors for both working in a noisy environment and quiet environment.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an earphone cover and an earphone assembly. The earphone cover having a through hole running axially through thereof. The earphone cover comprises a first attachment end, a second attachment end, a support portion, and a space defined by the support portion. The first and second attachment ends are positioned at each end of the through hole respectively. The support portion is set between the first and second attachment ends. The space is configured between an inner surface of the support portion and an outer surface of the earphone. The support portion deforms and air in the space escapes via the first and/or the second attachment ends under compression, and the support portion recovers to an original shape when the compression is removed.
Abstract:
A headphone apparatus includes a neckband having a first arm and a second arm joined by a central portion therebetween. The first and second arms each have a flexible section proximal to the central portion, the flexible sections including a memory material for dynamically creating and maintaining a desired shape of the neckband. The headphone apparatus further includes first and second earbuds connected to the neckband.
Abstract:
An ear covering system for keeping ears warn while wearing earphones includes a pair of earphones. Each of the earphones is selectively worn in an associated one of a pair of ears. A pair of earmuffs is provided and each of the earmuffs is selectively worn on an associated one the ears. Each of the earmuffs has a hole therein and each of the earphones is selectively extended through the hole in an associated one of the earmuffs. In this way the earmuffs are worn in conjunction with the earphones. Each of the earmuffs is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to keep the ears warm in a cold environment.
