    摘要: Apparatus and methods are provided for the embossing of a sheet of flexible graphite material between a pair of embossing rollers. The embossing rollers include a primary embossing roller and a backup roller. The primary embossing roller has an embossing pattern defined thereon. One or both of the rollers include a raised stabilization area adjacent a periphery of the embossing pattern. The raised stabilization area preferably has a roughened outer surface for better gripping the sheet of flexible graphite material. The raised stabilization areas apply a stabilizing force to the sheet adjacent the periphery of the embossing pattern, thereby limiting egress of the material laterally away from the embossing pattern. The roughened surfaces increase the grip of the raised areas upon the sheet, thus aiding in pulling the sheet between the rollers and also aiding in the application of lateral stabilization forces to the sheet.

    摘要: A web cutter includes a knife roll located above an anvil roll, a web infeed conveyor for moving a continuous web to be severed to the nip between the rolls and a segment discharge conveyor for removing segments cut from the web. The roll includes a plurality of fixed cutting knives and the anvil roll includes a plurality of fixed anvils such that rotation of the rolls brings each knife into engagement with an anvil to sever the web. Lift plates on the anvil roll are located immediately upstream from each anvil to raise the severed lead end of the web above the anvil in order to assure proper feeding to the discharge conveyor.

    摘要: A roving cutter with a positive ejection cutting head in which the ejection elements provided in the spaces between the circumferentially spaced cutting blades are mounted in eccentrically rotating end places under axial tension so as to form with the end plates a squirrel cage-like rigid assembly. By placing the ejection elements under lengthwise tension they can be given the required rigidity in spite of being reduced in cross section, for example to take on the form of rods or wires. Because of this, longer cutters become possible and in cutters of conventional length greater clearances can be obtained and thus the build-up of fiber material or dust in the spaces between the blades more effectively avoided.

    摘要: A rotatable pin cylinder and a coacting backing or anvil roller define a nip through which die cut and creased sheet material is fed to have intervening waste pieces removed. A hollow cylinder or combing drum is telescoped over the pin cylinder for rotation about an axis which is eccentric with respect to the pin cylinder axis. The drum and cylinder and driven in unison and as they rotate through a complete cycle, radially projecting stripper pins carried by the pin cylinder are caused to project through apertures in the combing drum to impale and separate waste pieces from the sheet material in the area of the stripping nip. Thereafter the pins are progressively retracted within the periphery of the combing drum to positively eject the waste pieces in an area approximately opposite the stripping nip.

    摘要: The present invention relates to highly permeable film products and a method for the production of such products comprising continuously passing relatively unpermeable, unperforated film stock through the nip of a pair of counter-rotating rollers. One of the rollers, i.e. a perforating roller, is provided around the circumference thereof, with a plurality of relatively dull needles or brads which serve to puncture the film as it passes through the nip formed by the perforating roller and a second back-up roller. As the film is being perforated it is firmly anchored and supported in a transverse direction by both the back-up roller and a resilient elastomeric material positioned around the periphery of the perforating roller, whereby efficient and positive film perforation is achieved at high film throughput rates.
