Abstract:
A compressed fabric article having embossed indicia thereon, and a method for its manufacture, are disclosed. The compressed fabric article may have its embossed indicia impressed into its surface, or it may have its embossed indicia projecting outwardly from its surface, or both. The article is formed by compressing a fabric article such as a shirt or towel in a mold while simultaneously using an inner surface of the mold or ram/piston to emboss the desired indicia on the surface of the compressed, molded fabric body. Multiple embossments can be made simultaneously. Upon opening a sealed package containing the compressed, embossed fabric article, the article can be opened out to its original configuration.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for marking a sheet metal workpiece on a punching press. A marking tool, mounted in a holder on the punching press is forced either against the surface of the workpiece, or to a depth into the surface of the workpiece. The workpiece is displaced in its plane, while engaged by the marking tool, in accordance with the desired contour. The marking tool is mounted either in the punch holder or in a holder of the workpiece table. A support roller or ball provides counter-support on the side of the workpiece opposite from the marking tool.
Abstract:
An improved embossing expanded graphite sheet material comprises removing at least a portion of the gas from within the material by exposing the material to a pressure less than atmospheric pressure, and then embossing the material. Preferably, the pressure to which the material is exposed is less than or equal to about 400 torr. An improved apparatus for embossing expanded graphite sheet material at a pressure less than atmospheric pressure comprises: at least one embossing device; at least one compression device adapted to urge the embossing device against the material; an embossing chamber comprising the at least one embossing device and adapted to receive the material, and to be substantially gas-tight at least when the embossing device is urged against the material by the pressing device; and an evacuation device for reducing the pressure within the embossing chamber. The atmosphere within the embossing chamber may comprise an inert gas, such as, for example, nitrogen, helium and argon.
Abstract:
The subject matter of the invention is an embossing press, including an embossing roller and a counter cylinder, for producing embossed seams by joining at least two paper layers or fleece layers, arranged one above the other and conveyed in a straight line. For this, the embossed seams extend at a slant or at a right angle relative to the conveying direction of the paper layers or fleece layers. The embossing roller according to the invention is provided with at least two rows of embossing teeth, arranged at a distance to each other, and the counter cylinder is designed as fluted roller, at least in the area effective for the embossing operation. For an equivalent embodiment of the invention, the embossing roller is provided with one row of embossing teeth, for which the total width corresponds at least to the total width of the embossed seams that can be produced during the embossing operation and the counter cylinder is designed as fluted roller, at least in the region of the embossing operation. For this embodiment, the ridged areas in the embossed region are interrupted by at least one groove that matches the non-embossed separating zone desired between the individual embossing seams that can be produced.
Abstract:
For the production of a sheet product including at least two layers (V1, V2) it is suggested, among other things, an embossing device including a first pressure roller (5; 105) interacting with a first and a second embossing cylinder (1, 3; 101, 103) provided with respective points (1P, 3P; 101P, 103P) on their cylindrical surface.
Abstract:
A nanoimprinting apparatus for imprinting nanostructure on a workpiece. The apparatus comprises a frame, a platen, an embossing tool, and a separating tool. The platen is connected to the frame for separating the workpiece. The embossing tool is connected to the frame for imprinting nanostructure on the workpiece. The separating tool is connected to the frame for separating the workpiece and embossing tool. The separating tool has a workpiece engagement surface for engaging the workpiece when separating the workpiece and embossing tool. The embossing tool extends through the separating tool.
Abstract:
The present invention describes an embossing guide for embossing a design into a sheet media. The embossing guide has first and second guidelines on the top of the embossing guide meeting at a defined angle. An embossing cutout is also provided, disposed within the defined angle formed by the first and second guidelines such that when a corner and sides of the sheet media are aligned against the first and second guidelines, the sheet media will be accurately placed over the embossing cutout such that a stylus moved around the edges of the embossing cutout will emboss a desired design into the sheet media at the specified location.
Abstract:
Tools supporting and heating device for tools like printing plates, used for diecutting and hot pressure transfer of portions of metallic films on a substrate. This device comprises a base plate applied against one of the sides of the honeycomb chase. This base plate is made of a sequence of at least one insulating surface and of at least one conducting surface enabling to feed at least one heating device intended to be inserted inside each one of said apertures in order to heat a printing plate fastened against a second side of the honeycomb chase.
Abstract:
An apparatus for controlling engraving devices, such as computerized rotary engraving machines, having a central processor for receiving stored data regarding engraving job parameters. A portable device having a touch pad permits additional data input during engraving operations.
Abstract:
A method for producing a multi-ply web of flexible material, such as paper and nonwoven material. At least one first ply is separately embossed by a first embossing means to form a plurality of crests and depressions and is combined with at least one second ply. After combining the first and second plies, they are brought into a nip between a spiked roll and a smooth rigid roll, the spiked roll having a plurality of protuberances which are adapted to press together the first and second plies in points or spots to cause a mechanical ply bonding between the at least two plies. The first embossing means and the spiked roll are in register with each other so that the protuberances of the spiked roll will hit at least some of the depressions of the ply facing the spiked roll. The invention also refers to a multi-ply web produced by the method.
