摘要： A cable pulling system includes a pickup truck having on-board hydraulic and electrical systems, the hydraulic system including a pump driven by the truck engine, a reservoir tank mounted in the truck cargo bed and associated plumbing. An equipment module is removably mountable on the cargo bed and comprises a pallet which carries a hydraulic control console adapted to be coupled to the hydraulic system, a sump pump removably disposed in a support, a hydraulic winch motor and a take-up reel respectively removably mounted on pivoting supports, a reel of hydraulic conduit having one end thereof coupled to the hydraulic system and the other end adapted to be coupled to the sump pump, and an extension reel of hydraulic conduit for coupling the winch motor or the sump pump to the hydraulic system. The winch motor and take-up reel are mounted on a bumper support for use. A tension controller is supported in use on a tray which can be mounted on the take-up reel storage support after the reel has been removed therefrom. The tension controller is coupled to the electrical system and to the hydraulic motor for controlling the tension applied to the cable being pulled.

摘要： A chain winch 10 having a sprocket wheel 14 of polygonal cross-section with flat faces 32 dimensioned in dependence on the dimensions of a link chain to be used therewith and having pin formations 36 for engaging between or in chain links. The winch includes a self latching pawl 48 engageable with the chain links and a braking mechanism 16 for controlled unwinding when required in use. The winch is simple and inexpensive and the sprocket tolerant of chain dimensions so that it can be used with uncalibrated chain. This winch, amongst other things, has application for permanent fitting to a tire chain for tensioning it on to a tire.

A specially adapted tripod assembly is described for anchoring the fall arrester and emergency retrieval apparatus which allows the apparatus to be mounted on a leg portion thereof or suspended from a central portion thereof, for facilitating use of the fall arrester and emergency retrieval apparatus in confined entry applications.

摘要： A mobile device for handling material of various types including a frame having an endless track mounted on each side thereof for providing mobility to the frame. A source of power in the form of an internal combustion engine is mounted directly on the frame. A turntable is rotatably mounted on the frame with a boom pivotally connected at its lower end to the turntable at a point spaced from the rotating axis of the turntable for pivotal movement of the boom in a vertical plane over the turntable by means of a hydraulic ram connected at its lower end to the turntable at a point intermediate the rotating axis of the turntable and the pivotal connection of the lower end of the boom with the upper end of the ram connected to the boom. The turntable is mounted on the frame for pivotal movement of the same with the boom thereon transversely to each side of the device. Material handling apparatus for trees may be mounted on the outer end of the boom and conventional controls are provided for actuation of the boom, the endless tracks, the turntable and the material handling apparatus.

Protective pads on each end of the lower crossbar engage the underside of the top near the rear portion and a protective pad at the front of the longitudinal member engages the front topside of the top whereby the removable top is supported in a balanced horizontal position upon application of a lifting force to the longitudinal member.

摘要： A mooring apparatus for a semi-submersible oil exploration and drilling rig includes eight drum anchor hoists and winches on which are carried eight wire rope mooring lines. Each of these lines extends up over one of eight head sheaves and vertically down the outside face of the oil rig through a fairleader rotatably mounted with respect to the rig at a bottom submerged portion thereof. A linear line pull machine is mounted to the rig in encompassing relation to each of the vertical runs of mooring line between the head sheave and the fairleader. These eight mooring line assemblies are distributed around the periphery of the rig. Two mooring lines extend at 90.degree. from each other at each corner of the rig. At least one hydraulic power unit is provided for each two of these mooring line assemblies, and air and hydraulic control means are provided utilizing power from this power unit selectively to: (1) reel out and reel in on the mooring lines when low line forces are involved using the anchor hoist; (2) to exert extremely high forces at slow speeds when necessary to set anchors attached to outer ends of the mooring lines and to positively hold the rig against the upward buoyant effect of the rig's pontoons; or (3) to operatively disassociate the linear pull machines from the mooring lines so that the mooring lines can be reeled outwardly at very high speeds.

摘要： A U-shaped suspension ring is pivotally supported on a horizontal pin inserted through a suspension shaft supported by the top plate of a load suspending tripod or by a support member disposed at a high place. In order to lift a chain block to the position of the suspension ring, a rope passed around the hook of the chain block is divided into a hook lifting rope portion extending around the opposite ends of the horizontal pin and tension rope portions to be pulled from the ground. As a result of this arrangement, the hook can be brought into engagement with the suspension ring in such a manner that the opening in the hook of the chain caught by the lifting rope portion remains unchanged in direction with respect to the suspension ring; on the other hand, the suspension ring can be disengaged from the hook by an operation on the tension rope portions, which operation causes the guide between the arm portions of the suspension ring to change the angle of the suspension ring around the axis of the horizontal pin.
