    摘要: In accordance with the present invention there is provided a cyclopentadienyl-type ligand represented by the formula ZA, wherein Z is a cyclopentadienyl-type group, wherein A is --YPR.sub.2, --YNR.sub.2, or --NR.sub.2, wherein Y is an alkylene group containing 1 to 24 carbon atoms, wherein each R is individually selected from alkyl groups containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms. Another aspect of the invention is to provide a metallocene represented by the formula ZAMX.sub.3, wherein Z and A are as described above, M is a Group IVB or VB transition metal, and X is a halide. Other aspects of the present invention include catalyst systems comprising the metallocenes and an organoaluminoxane, processes for preparing the above defined ligands, metallocenes and catalyst systems, and polymerization processes employing the catalyst systems.

    摘要: Catalyst and process for the stereospecific propagation of a polymer chain derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer which contains 3 or more carbon atoms or is substituted vinyl compound. The catalysts comprise stereorigid metallocenes in which a structural bridge is not required for stereorigidity. The ring structures of the metallocene catalyst are substituted cyclopentadienyl rings. The substituent groups on the cyclopentadienyi rings impart stereorigidity to the catalyst by virtue of a sterically hindered relationship between the rings sufficient to prevent rotation of the rings. The catalyst is contacted with a C.sub.3 + alpha olefin or other ethylenically unsaturated compound in a polymerization reaction zone and maintained in contact with the catalyst in the reaction zone under polymerization conditions to produce a stereospecific polymer.

    摘要: This invention is for a catalyst system comprising a neutral metallocene compound, an aluminum alkyl and a Lewis acid. The Lewis acid must be of sufficient acidity to ionize a neutral metallocene compound to form a cationic metallocene catalyst. The ligands of the Lewis acid should not be reactive with the metallocene cation. Any metallocene catalyst compound having two cyclopentadienyl rings, substituted or unsubstituted, attached to a transition metal which can be ionized by a Lewis acid would be useful in this invention. The invention is also for the process of making the catalyst system and the process for using the catalyst system in polymerization of olefins. The metallocene is contacted with the Lewis acid. The aluminum alkyl is contacted with the olefin. The two mixtures are contacted with each other under polymerization conditions.
