Abstract:
Phase-selective soluble polymer supports for catalysts are described. The catalysts utilize polystyrene copolymers having enhanced solubility in nonpolar solvents. Other catalysts of the invention utilize polyisobutylene supports. Methods of catalyzing chemical reactions using latent biphasic solvents are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for fabricating an electrical interconnect between two or more electrical components. A conductive layer is provided on a substarte and a thin, patterned catalyst array is deposited on an exposed surface of the conductive layer. A gas or vapor of a metallic precursor of a metal nanowire (MeNW) is provided around the catalyst array, and MeNWs grow between the conductive layer and the catalyst array. The catalyst array and a portion of each of the MeNWs are removed to provide exposed ends of the MeNWs.
Abstract:
A mobile communication apparatus that utilizes multiple base station/mobile station antennas and a mobile communication method performed therein are provided. The mobile communication apparatus includes a base station having at least two antennas and at least two mobile stations having at least one antenna, respectively. The base station restores weight information and channel status information from feedback signals received from the mobile stations, determines downlink investigation information that results in maximum transmission channel capacity based on the restored weight information and channel status information, selects mobile stations for simultaneous transmission based on the downlink investigation information, and processes data to be transmitted to the selected mobile stations based on the downlink investigation information.
Abstract:
An Integrated Circuit Design tool incorporating a Stochastic Analysis Process (“SAP”) is described. The SAP can be applied on many levels of circuit components including transistor devices, logic gate devices, and System-on-Chip or chip designs. The SAP replaces the large number of traditional Monte Carlo simulations with operations using a small number of sampling points or corners. The SAP is a hierarchical approach using a model fitting process to generate a model that can be used with any number of performance metrics to generate performance variation predictions along with corresponding statistical information (e.g., mean, three-sigma probability, etc.). The SAP provides an efficient way of modeling the circuit or system variation due to global parameters such as device dimensions, interconnect wiring variations, economic variations, and manufacturing variations.
Abstract:
A method for allocating orthogonal codes, whereby the product of a number of active users in the system and the average number of sectors servicing each user is determined, and sufficient orthogonal codes are allocated to service the product of F and the optimal number of active users in the system. At least one message is transmitted for reception by at least one mobile station, the message indicating the number of allocated orthogonal codes.
Abstract:
A system for transferring content includes a wireless local area network (WLAN) and a network module provided within the WLAN or a cellular network to alert users of available content in the WLAN and handle user requests made for content when a user has access to the cellular network. The network module, which may comprise an interworking function, delivers the content to the user through the WLAN when the user is present in a coverage area of the WLAN. The invention allows a user to view the programs available for download and request a specific program using a relatively low speed network, such as a cellular network, and download the program through a high speed network, such as a WLAN.
Abstract:
A process is provided for preparing 4-alkyl- or 4-aryl-oxycarbonyl paclitaxel analogs which includes the steps of converting paclitaxel into a C-7 acylprotected paclitaxel employing an electrophilic protecting group, such as benzoyloxycarbonyl, and converting the C-7 protected analog into the 4-alkyloxycarbonyl or 4-aryloxycarbonyl paclitaxel analog. Novel intermediates produced in the process are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a mobile communication apparatus and method including a base station and a mobile station both having multi-antenna. As for the apparatus, including a base station and at least two mobile stations. The base station carries out the following functions: (a) restores weightied information and channel status information which have been decided by mobile stations from feedback signals received by mobile stations; (b) selects the downlink detect information which satisfies the largest transferring channel capacity from the above weighting information and channel status information which have been restored; (c) selects mobile stations to transmit at the same time from all mobile stations which are able to transmit using downlink detect information; and (d) processes data which will be transferred to select mobile stations with downlink detect information. The base station has at least one base station antenna, and the mobile station has at least one mobile station antenna.
Abstract:
A system for object discovery in heterogeneous object systems includes a fixed object system having a registry. A callee object having a rendezvous name is registered in the registry of the fixed object system under the rendezvous name. The system also includes an adaptive object system having a remote procedure call protocol abstraction layer. The remote procedure call protocol abstraction layer is configured to access the registry of the fixed object system.
