Abstract: A system is provided in an automated machine vision inspection environment. The system includes inspection cameras and a spectrophotometer or spectrometer, both implemented to be used online to detect the absolute colors of printed portions of items being inspected. The spectrophotometer or spectrometer is aimed at a fixed spot within a field of view of one of the digital cameras of an inspection system, which has a-priori knowledge as to exactly where the spectrophotometer or spectrometer is aimed. The image taken by the camera will be used to determine whether the desired measurement spot on the decoration pattern has actually been measured by the most recent snap of the spectrophotometric data. When the vision system determines that the spectrophotometer or spectrometer was truly aiming at the correct region when it captured its inspection data, it will instruct the system to accept the color measurement and will log the related data and information accordingly. If the correct spot is not measured, the data may simply be discarded or may be kept for other uses.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a flow cytometer is disclosed having a compact light detection module. The compact light detection module includes an image array with a transparent block, a plurality of micro-mirrors in a row coupled to a first side of the transparent block, and a plurality of filters in a row coupled to a second side of the transparent block opposite the first side. Each of the plurality of filters reflects light to one of the plurality of micro-mirrors and passes light of a differing wavelength range and each of the plurality of micro-mirrors reflects light to one of the plurality of filters, such that incident light into the image array zigzags back and forth between consecutive filters of the plurality of filters and consecutive micro-mirrors of the plurality of micro-mirrors. A radius of curvature of each of the plurality of micro-mirrors images the fiber aperture onto the odd filters and collimates the light beam on the even filters.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to hyperspectral spectroscopy, and in particular, to systems, methods and devices enabling a single-sensor hyperspectral imaging device. Hyperspectral (also known as “multispectral”) spectroscopy is an imaging technique that integrates multiples images of an object resolved at different narrow spectral bands (i.e., narrow ranges of wavelengths) into a single data structure, referred to as a three-dimensional hyperspectral data cube. Data provided by hyperspectral spectroscopy allow for the identification of individual components of a complex composition through the recognition of spectral signatures of individual components within the three-dimensional hyperspectral data cube.

Abstract: A spectral imaging system configured to obtain spectral measurements in a plurality of spectral regions is described herein. The spectral imaging system comprises at least one optical detecting unit having a spectral response corresponding to a plurality of absorption peaks of a target chemical species. In an embodiment, the optical detecting unit may comprise an optical detector array, and one or more optical filters configured to selectively pass light in a spectral range, wherein a convolution of the responsivity of the optical detector array and the transmission spectrum of the one or more optical filters has a first peak in mid-wave infrared spectral region between 3-4 microns corresponding to a first absorption peak of methane and a second peak in a long-wave infrared spectral region between 6-8 microns corresponding to a second absorption peak of methane.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes controlling an instrument to measure a fluorescence emission spectrum of a sample including a first peak emission wavelength and at least a second peak emission wavelength, emitted in response to an excitation wavelength and controlling the instrument to measure an absorbance obtained at the excitation wavelength of the sample. The method may include determining, using the computer, a ratio of the measurements at either the second peak emission wavelength, or a sum of measurements at a plurality of peak emission wavelengths including at least the first peak emission wavelength and the second peak emission wavelength, to the first peak emission wavelength, and calculating, using the computer, a value for a quality parameter based on a combination of at least the ratio and the absorbance measurement. The method may include controlling an associated process based on the quality parameter.

Abstract: A detector system is disclosed herein that includes a plurality of light guides. Each light guide is guiding incoming light from a respective object in use, wherein the incoming light is provided by means of an illuminating means. The detector system comprises diffracting means for diffracting the incoming light in different wavelength ranges, at least one focuser for projecting the incoming light exiting the light guides onto the diffracting means, a detector having a detector area for receiving the diffracted light from the plurality of Sight guides, and a control unit. These are arranged to pulsate incoming light via only one light guide at a time based on a pulse timing parameter, and record a spectrum of light diffracted from each light guide and detected by the detector based on the pulse timing parameter.
