Abstract: An energy storage apparatus includes energy storage devices each of which including an electrode assembly, a current collector connected to the electrode assembly, a terminal plate including a through hole, and a metal-made fastening member which fastens the terminal plate and the current collector to each other, and a bus bar physically connected to the terminal plate at a contacting surface of the bus bar and the terminal plate. The metal-made fastening member includes a body portion fixed to the current collector, a shaft portion extending from the body portion and passing through the through hole, and a swaged portion formed on the shaft portion outside the energy storage devices and fixing the terminal plate between the swaged portion and the body portion in a sandwiching manner.

Abstract: A method of charging an assembled battery, includes mechanically connecting two external terminals of an assembled battery and two connecting lines of a charging circuit, respectively, the assembled battery including a plurality of lithium ion battery cells connected in series, a lithium ion battery cell of the plurality of lithium ion battery cells including a positive electrode active material including a first lithium compound comprising iron, the two external terminals, and a first communicating unit. The method also includes electrically connecting the first communicating unit of the assembled battery to a second communicating unit of the charging circuit, charging the assembled battery through the two external terminals using a quasi-constant voltage charging procedure, and reducing a charging current toward a late stage during the charging of the assembled battery.

Abstract: Provided is a positive active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which includes a lithium transition metal composite oxide. A molar ratio (Li/Me) of Li and a transition metal (Me) that form the lithium transition metal composite oxide is more than 1. The transition metal (Me) includes Mn, Ni and Co. The lithium transition metal composite oxide has an α-NaFeO2-type crystal structure, an X-ray diffraction pattern attributable to a space group R3-m, and a full width at half maximum (FWHM (104)) for the diffraction peak of the (104) plane at a Miller index hkl in X-ray diffraction measurement using a CuKα ray of 0.21° or more and 0.55° or less. A ratio (FWHM (003)/FWHM (104)) of a full width at half maximum for the diffraction peak of the (003) plane and the full width at half maximum for the diffraction peak of the (104) plane at the Miller index hkl is 0.72 or less. Particles of the lithium transition metal composite oxide have a peak differential pore volume of 0.33 mm3/(g·nm) or less.

Abstract: A monitoring apparatus for an energy storage device provided at a movable body and electrically connected to a load of the movable body via a switch, includes a monitoring unit supplied with power from the energy storage device. The monitoring unit executes monitoring operation of bringing the switch from a closed state into an opened state under a condition that the energy storage device has voltage not more than a discharge voltage threshold, and bringing the switch from the opened state into the closed state under a condition that the switch is in the opened state and the energy storage device satisfies a predetermined discharge recovery condition, and decreases power consumption by extending an interval of the monitoring operation when the load is under suspension while the switch is in the opened state, in comparison to a case where the load is in operation.
