Abstract:
Systems and methods include receiving an image for presenting on a display screen of a head mounted display (HMD). The image is provided by an application. The received image is pre-distorted to enable optics provided in a HMD to render the image. An alignment offset is identified for an eye of a user wearing the HMD by determining a position of the eye relative to an optical axis of at least one lens of the optics of the HMD. The pre-distorted image provided by the application is adjusted to define a corrected pre-distorted image that accounts for the alignment offset. The corrected pre-distorted image is forwarded to the display screen of the HMD for rendering, such that the image presented through the optics of the HMD removes aberrations caused by the alignment offset.
Abstract:
In an image processing apparatus, an image pickup unit takes images of an object including the face of a person wearing the glasses by which to observe a stereoscopic image that contains a first parallax image and a second parallax image obtained when the object in a three-dimensional (3D) space is viewed from different viewpoints. A glasses identifying unit identifies the glasses included in the image of the object taken by the image pickup unit. A face detector detects a facial region the face of the person included in the image of the object taken by the image pickup unit, based on the glasses identified by the glasses identifying unit. An augmented-reality special rendering unit adds a virtual feature to the facial region of the face of the person detected by the face detector.
Abstract:
Audio fingerprinting and other media matching technologies can be used to identify media, such as movies, television shows, and radio broadcasts. A user device can record image, audio, and/or video information and upload information to a matching service that is able to use matching technology to identify the media and provide supplemental content or information to the user. The user then can share this information with other users, such as by uploading to a social networking site or passing the information to peers on a peer network as part of a container. Users can have the ability to add tagged content, provide comments and ratings, and otherwise interact based at least in part upon the tagged media content.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for using a position of a mobile device with an integrated display as an input to a video game or other presentation are presented. Embodiments include rendering an avatar on a mobile device such that it appears to overlay a competing user in the real world. Using the mobile device's position, view direction, and the other user's mobile device position, an avatar (or vehicle, etc.) is depicted at an apparently inertially stabilized location of the other user's mobile device or body. Some embodiments may estimate the other user's head and body positions and angles and reflect them in the avatar's gestures.
Abstract:
A slide cover has a engaged portion formed thereon. A rotatable member includes a stopper portion which is abutted against the engaged portion so as to restrict a relative movement of the engaged portion of the slide cover when the slide cover is arranged at a closed position. The stopper portion is positioned away from a rotation center of the rotatable member, and the rotatable member rotates to allow the relative movement of the engaged portion when the stopper portion is pushed by the engaged portion. This makes it possible to increase an angle between an stopper surface formed on the stopper portion and a movement direction (right-left direction) of the engaged portion. As a result, the cover is stably held at the closed position.
Abstract:
In syllable or vowel or phone boundary detection during speech, an auditory spectrum may be determined for an input window of sound and one or more multi-scale features may be extracted from the auditory spectrum. Each multi-scale feature can be extracted using a separate two-dimensional spectro-temporal receptive filter. One or more feature maps corresponding to the one or more multi-scale features can be generated and an auditory gist vector can be extracted from each of the one or more feature maps. A cumulative gist vector may be obtained through augmentation of each auditory gist vector extracted from the one or more feature maps. One or more syllable or vowel or phone boundaries in the input window of sound can be detected by mapping the cumulative gist vector to one or more syllable or vowel or phone boundary characteristics using a machine learning algorithm.
Abstract:
A client device platform may provide an emulator with game inputs to advance an emulated game from a first state to a second state. The emulator may record the game inputs. Once the emulation of the game is suspended, the client device platform may deliver a replay request to the emulator. Upon receiving the replay request, the emulator may re-emulate the game inputs that have been stored in the emulator's memory. The re-emulation will produce the replay which may be delivered back to the client device platform. Abstract:
Methods for real time motion capture for controlling an object in a video game are provided. One method includes defining a model of a control object and identifying a marker on the control object. The method also includes capturing movement associated with the control object with a video capture device. Then, interpreting the movement associated with the control object to change a position of the model based on data captured through the video capture device, wherein the data captured includes the marker. The method includes moving the video game object presented on the display screen in substantial real-time according to the change of position of the model.
Abstract:
An inputting device for inputting information to a touch sensor is disclosed which is less likely to cause false detection and allows comparatively free selection of a disposition position of the inputting device relative to a touch sensor. The inputting device includes a conducive member disposed on a touch sensor of the capacitance type and cooperating with the touch sensor to form a capacitor therebetween, a ground terminal connected to the ground of the touch sensor, a current path interconnecting the conductive member and the ground terminal, and a switch disposed on the current path. A result of detection by the touch sensor varies in response to switching of the switch.
Abstract:
An optical disc device that reads information recorded in an optical disc medium includes an objective lens that focuses light on the optical disc medium, a spherical aberration correction mechanism that changes an amount of spherical aberration of the objective lens according to a setting value of a predetermined parameter, and an evaluation value measurement section that measures an evaluation value indicating the accuracy of reading of information from the optical disc medium. The optical disc device further includes a control section that executes adjustment processing in which the control section carries out plural times of measurement of the evaluation value by the evaluation value measurement section concurrently with changing the amount of spherical aberration of the objective lens by the spherical aberration correction mechanism and calculates an optimum setting value of the parameter based on plural evaluation values obtained by the plural times of measurement.
