A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, control signaling configuring the UE to use a first waveform for communicating via a first beam and a second waveform for communicating via a second beam, the first waveform being different than the second waveform. The UE may communicate a first data transmission via the first beam using the first waveform and communicate a second data transmission via the second beam using the second waveform.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for using a channel state information (CSI) report framework to support positioning measurements in a wireless network. More particularly, a base station may identify one or more reference signal resources to be transmitted to a user equipment (UE) for obtaining at least one positioning measurement and configure the reference signal resources to be transmitted at least partially outside a current bandwidth that the base station and the UE are using to communicate data and control information. Accordingly, the base station may transmit, to the UE, a CSI report setting that indicates the positioning measurement to be reported and specifies that the positioning measurement is to be obtained from the configured reference signal resources.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for phase error estimation and correction with sub-symbol resolution. A transmitting device may precode symbols (e.g., phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) symbols) using a discrete Fourier transform (DFT). The transmitting device may map the DFT-precoded symbols to sets of adjacent subcarriers of a wireless signal, and may map other symbols to other subcarriers of the wireless signal. A receiving device may receive the wireless signal and may compare time domain representations of the DFT-precoded symbols with time domain representations of known reference symbols. The receiving device may estimate a phase error with sub-symbol resolution in the time domain based at least in part on the comparison, and may apply a phase correction in either the time or frequency domain to the other symbols.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for resource allocation in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network. A relay node in an IAB network may be assigned a first resource partition that is different from a second resource partition for the child and parent nodes. Based on a resource configuration (e.g., for a slot) of the second resource partition, the relay node may opportunistically utilize the second resource partition for communications. For instance, the relay node may determine a direction table based on the resource configurations of the child and parent nodes, which may be used to perform uplink or downlink communications in one or more symbols of the second resource partition. The relay node may also identify flexible symbols as free or non-free when determining the direction table.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to distributed joint access of an unlicensed sidelink channel. Each sidelink device may perform independent and asynchronous listen before talk (LBT) of the unlicensed sidelink channel with a respective back-off time. The first sidelink device to complete back-off may transmit a joint access synchronization (JAS) signal indicating a duration of time that the unlicensed sidelink channel may be accessed by sidelink devices. Synchronized access sharing of the unlicensed sidelink channel across different active sidelinks may then be achieved through distributed handshake signaling.

A network server may configure a base station for beamforming communications based on a service type of data used by a user equipment (UE). The network server may determine the service type of the data based on position data of the UE, along with other statistical information related to data usage. The position information may include global position system (GPS) information, gyroscope information, accelerometer information, or information related to the UE's subarray geometry. The base station may receive the position information from the UE and convey it to the network server. The network server may use the position information to generate a network map and to identify the service type of communication.

Abstract: A wireless device of the present disclosure may be able to reduce the time needed to determine a subarray and/or beamforming direction used for mmW communication. An apparatus may maintain first information associated with a correlation between each of a plurality of wireless device orientations and a plurality of nodes, at least one subarray, and a corresponding beamforming direction. The apparatus may communicate with a first node using a first beamforming direction selected from the first information. In certain aspects, the first beamforming direction may be correlated with a first orientation of a first subarray at the wireless device and the first node. The apparatus may perform a handoff procedure from the first node to a second node when a position of the first subarray changes from the first orientation to a second orientation.
