Abstract:
The invention provides nucleic acid molecules which encodes a novel fatty acid desaturase, KCS, KCR and/or LACS from Thraustochytrium aureum and Sphaeroforma arctica. The invention also provides recombinant expression vectors containing said nucleic acid molecules, host cells into which the expression vectors have been introduced, and methods for large-scale production of long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFAs), e.g., ARA, EPA and DHA and for screening for delta-4 desaturases.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The present invention relates to the cosmetic, nutraceutical and/or pharmaceutical, notably dermatological, use of a strain of Lactobacillus crispatus and/or of a composition comprising it for maintaining and/or increasing the expression of extracellular matrix molecules of the skin and/or of mucous membranes and notably for maintaining and/or increasing the biomechanical properties of healthy skin and/or healthy mucous membranes, preferentially the firmness and/or elasticity and/or density of healthy skin and/or healthy mucous membranes.
Abstract:
An apparatus for controlling synthesis of a material in particular a polymer is proposed, the apparatus comprising at least: an obtaining unit configured to receive a digital representa-tion of a candidate material, a model unit configured to provide a data driven model trained based on digital representations of previously presented materials and at least two of their respective characteristic properties, a pareto unit configured to provide a provisional pareto front associated with the at least two characteristic material properties for the subset of materials, a property determination unit configured to determine the at least two character-istic material properties of the candidate material based on the data driven model and the digital representation, a validation unit configured to compare the determined at least two characteristic material properties with the provisional pareto front, a providing unit config-ured to, based on the Ccomparison providing a control file, suitable for controlling the syn-thesis of the candidate material.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides modified, transgenic, or genome edited/mutated corn plants that are semi-dwarf and have one or more improved ear traits relative to a control plant, such as increase in ear area, increased single kernel weight, increased ear fresh weight, increased number of florets, and mitigated flowering delay. The modified, transgenic, or genome edited/mutated corn plants comprise a transgene encoding one or more CONSTANS (CO) or CONSTANS-like (COL) polypeptide and have a reduced expression of one or more GA20 or GA3 oxidase genes. Also provided are methods for producing the modified, transgenic, or genome edited/mutated corn plants.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to methods for extraction of biomass. Biomass of most interest is that which contains biologically active, extracts suitable for the skin care market. The biomass of interest includes botanicals (plant extracts and bioferments thereof), algae (red, brown, green and red, including bioferments thereof), fungi and even animal extracts (insect, crustacean) origin. Further the use of said extracts in cosmetic preparations prepared by the disclosed method is envisioned.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides modified, transgenic, or genome edited/mutated corn plants that are semi-dwarf and have one or more improved ear traits relative to a control plant, such as increase in ear diameter, ear fresh weight, and single kernel weight, and increased yield. The modified, transgenic, or genome edited/mutated corn plants comprise a transgene encoding one or more molybdenum cofactor (Moco) biosynthesis polypeptides and have a reduced expression of one or more GA20 or GA3 oxidase genes. Also provided are methods for producing the modified, transgenic, or genome edited/mutated corn plants.
Abstract:
The present disclosure concerns a process for fermenting a biomass with a reduced dose of a purified exogenous enzyme (which can be, for example a purified exogenous glucoamylase). The process comprises contacting a biomass (which may comprise starch) with a recombinant yeast host cell. The recombinant yeast host cell has a genetic modification for expressing a heterologous polypeptide having starch or dextrin hydrolase activity (which may be, for example, from a glucoamylase). The nucleic acid molecule encoding the heterologous polypeptide having starch or dextrin hydrolase activity comprises allowing the secretion of the heterologous polypeptide.
Abstract:
The present disclosure concerns recombinant yeast host cell for saccharification of a biomass. The recombinant yeast host cell has a genetic modification for expressing a heterologous polypeptide having glucoamylase activity (Rasamsonia emersonii glucoamylase). In some embodiments, the heterologous polypeptide comprises the signal sequence associated with the alpha-mating 1 factor. The present disclosure also concerns a process for saccharification of a biomass using the recombinant yeast host cell as well as a process for fermenting the saccharified biomass into a fermentation product.
