Abstract: The present disclosure describes compositions comprising β-lactam antibiotics and branched polyethylenimines (BPEI), having efficacy against various Gram-positive bacteria, for example Gram-positive bacteria having resistance against β-lactam antibiotics. The compositions result in the resensitization of such resistant bacterial strains to traditional antibiotic therapies such as cephem β-lactam antibiotics.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed in non-limiting embodiments to compounds, compositions, and methods of treating conditions and diseases associated with activation of the gonadotropin GnRH receptor (GnRHR), particularly those involving GnRHR activating autoantibodies (GnRHR AAbs). In one non-limiting embodiment, the disease is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The therapeutic compounds in at least certain embodiments include peptides which at least partially comprise D-amino acids, such as retro-inverso D-amino acid (RID) peptides, which are able to bind with high affinity to GnRHR AAbs.

Abstract: A method of producing dendritic gold nanoparticles by combining a gold precursor solution, a reducing agent, and a bifunctional peptide having an amine-rich amino acid sequence into a buffered aqueous solution in a single container, and agitating the mixture causing the formation of the dendritic gold nanoparticles having a surface with a positive charge and a second end portion of the bifunctional peptide exposed on the surface of the dendritic gold nanoparticles. The dendritic gold nanoparticles may be used to deliver therapeutic, diagnostic, and/or immunogenic amino acid sequences as portions of the bifunctional peptide.

The inorganic perovskite compound may be used as an anti-counterfeiting nanotaggant applied on or within an object that susceptible to counterfeiting to enable confirmation of an authentic object.

Abstract: A method for using a surgical enhanced visualization system for enhancing a surgical operation includes the steps of acquiring patient reference data, loading the patient reference data and features into the computer, and acquiring live data from the operating suite during the surgical operation, where the live data includes a live three dimensional model of the patient. The method continues with the steps of registering the patient reference data and live data and displaying in real time an overlay of selected registered patient reference data onto the patient through the headset worn by the surgeon. The surgical enhanced visualization system may include a computer adapted to store reference data, a sensor module inside the surgical suite that is configured to record live data during the surgical procedure, and an augmented reality headset configured to display both live data and reference data to the surgeon during the surgical procedure.
