Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for imaging a target location. Accordingly, an imaging instrument includes an imaging system positioned within an elongated body. The imaging system includes an optics chamber that is hermetically sealed within the elongated body. A focusing element is movably positioned within the optics chamber. An image sensor is operably coupled to the focus element. A focus driver is positioned within the optics chamber and operably coupled to the focusing element. The focus driver is configured to move a longitudinal position of the focusing element in response to control input. Additionally, the imaging system includes a seal member that is configured to maintain the hermetic seal of the optics chamber while the control input affects the focus driver.

The robot-assisted medical system is configured to transfer the mounting bracket into engagement with the connection member while the connection member is in the predetermined configuration.

Abstract: A teleoperation system includes an input device configured to by manually manipulated by an operator, a first manipulator configured to support an imaging device, a second manipulator configured to support an attachment selected from the group consisting of: an instrument and a tissue probe, a display device; and a control system. The imaging device has a field of view. The control system is configured to receive a first image of a workspace captured by the imaging device; determine a movement command based on movement of the input device; and in response to a first determination that the movement command is for teleoperating the attachment while the attachment is inserted into the workspace in a first direction that is non-corresponding to a second direction of the field of view, cause the display device to display a second image indicative of a tip of the attachment overlayed with the first image.

Abstract: An endoscopic system for sensing one or more characteristics at an environment of a worksite comprises a shaft comprising a proximal end portion and a distal end portion; an electrically active sensor system comprising a sensor positioned to sense at least one characteristic of an environment in which the distal end portion of the shaft is located; an electrical power transmission line electrically coupled to the sensor and extending along the shaft, the electrical power transmission line configured to transmit power to the sensor; and a floating ground element electrically isolated from an earth ground and operably coupled to the electrically active sensor system. An overall capacitance between the electrical power transmission line and the floating ground element is greater than an overall capacitance between the floating ground element and earth ground.

And, the headrest includes a curved user-facing surface that is shaped to receive a user's head in a way that comfortably aligns the user's eye horizontally and vertically with the optical axis of the lens.

Abstract: The technology described in this document can be embodied in a viewing apparatus for a surgical device, the apparatus including a lens assembly including a first circular polarizer, a display device configured to present an image of a scene, a reflective surface oriented at an acute angle with respect to the display device such that light from the display device is reflected from the reflective surface towards the lens assembly, and a second circular polarizer configured to impart a circular polarization to the light from the display device. The first polarizer in the lens assembly is configured such that light reflected from the reflective surface passes through the first circular polarizer, and line-of-sight light reaching the first circular polarizer without being reflected from the reflective surface is substantially blocked.

Abstract: Systems and methods for supporting image-guided procedures include a device having an instrument usable to collect location data for one or more passageways and one or more processors coupled to the instrument. The one or more processors are configured to organize a plurality of points within the location data based on a corresponding insertion depth of the instrument when each of the plurality of points is collected, create a passageway tree based on the points, identify at least three non-collinear landmark locations within the passageway tree, create a seed transformation between one or more of the at least three non-collinear landmark locations and corresponding model locations in model data, and register, using the seed transformation, the plurality of points to the model data for the one or more passageways. In some embodiments, the at least three non-collinear landmark locations are based on a main branch point in the passageway tree.

Abstract: Techniques for inter-arm registration include a computer-assisted system having a repositionable arm and a control unit coupled to the repositionable arm. The control unit is configured to receive, from an imaging device, image data of an instrument, the instrument mounted to the repositionable arm; determine an observed geometric property of a feature set of the instrument based on the image data, the feature set comprising at least one feature; determine an expected geometric property of the feature set based on at least kinematic data of the repositionable arm; determine a difference between the observed geometric property and the expected geometric property; update, based on the difference. a registration transform to produce an updated registration transform associated with the instrument; and control the instrument using the updated registration transform.
