Abstract:
The present invention relates an aqueous dispersion of low Tg polymer encapsulating TiO2 particles and a process for preparing the dispersion. The encapsulating polymer is a (meth)acrylate polymer, a styrene-acrylate copolymer, or a vinyl acetate-(meth)acrylate copolymer, or a combination thereof, and the encapsulating polymer further contains units of sodium styrene sulfonate. The present invention provides encapsulated TiO2 particles with low gel that are film-forming at ambient temperatures, especially for coatings applications.
Abstract:
A cabinet structure for a switchgear assembly. The cabinet structure includes a cabinet having upper and lower vents and a breaker cradle for holding a circuit breaker having primary disconnects for connecting the circuit breaker to bus bars. The cabinet further includes an air passageway located between the upper and lower vents, wherein the air passageway extends vertically through the primary disconnects and the cabinet. Further, the cabinet includes a fan module having at least one fan for drawing outside air through the lower vent, the air passageway and the primary disconnects for cooling the primary disconnects.

A coating containing pigment particles and a polymer matrix is provided. The coating contains pigment particles that have a scattering coefficient with a linear or quasi-linear relationship to the pigment volume concentration of those pigment particles. The coating has improved hiding and is useful as a protective coating or an aesthetic coating on an underlying substrate. Also provided are compositions useful for preparing the coating, including covalently bonded composite particles and aqueous dispersions containing composite particles. The composite particles each contain a pigment particle with a plurality of polymer particles attached by adsorption on the outer surface of the pigment particle or by covalent bonding to the pigment particle through a coupling agent. Methods to prepare the composite particles and coating compositions containing the composite particles are also provided.

Methods and systems that allow an Internet distribution partner of an advertisement listings provider to receive filtered and masked listings for display on the website of the Internet distribution partner. The Internet distribution partner defines filters to be applied to ranked advertising listings provided by an advertising listing provider. The advertisement listings provider system applies the filter to the listings in its database and identify matches and/or excludes matches depending on the characteristic specified. The advertisement listings provider may then send the Internet distribution partner advertisement listings based on the application of one or more filter selected by the distribution partner. Thus, the advertisement listings provider and the Internet distribution partner are able to generate additional revenue without risking the Internet distribution partner's valuable relationships with its exclusive advertisers and without jeopardizing the Internet advertising distribution partner's relationships with its end users.
Abstract:
A stable asparaginase solution is disclosed. In one aspect, drinking water is treated to reduce the level of chlorine to enhance the residual enzyme activity of asparaginase. The treatment can occur by removing chlorine constituents or by supplying additives that reduces the level of chlorine. Additives can include reducing agents and chlorine scavengers. Removal technologies can include use of activated carbon, ion exchange, and air stripping.

An aqueous dispersion of polymeric particles, the particles including: from 5% to 80% by weight, based on the weight of the polymeric particles, of a first polymer including at least one copolymerized ethylenically unsaturated monomer; and, substantially encapsulating the first polymer, from 20% to 95% by weight, based on the weight of the polymeric particles, of a second polymer including at least one copolymerized ethylenically unsaturated monomer, the second polymer having a Tg of from −40° C. to 30° C., wherein at least 90 weight % of the second polymer is formed by polymerization at a temperature of from 5° C. to 65° C. is provided. The invention also relates to a process for forming the aqueous dispersion of polymeric particles and an aqueous coating composition including the aqueous dispersion of polymer particles, a method for providing a coated substrate, and the coated substrate so provided.

A method is described for forming a magnetic recording head substrate. The method includes utilizing a metal feature on the magnetic recording head substrate as a grounding path. The magnetic recording head substrate is submerged in a solution containing ions of a second material, and the ions of the second material are electrodeposited on the magnetic recording head substrate.
