Abstract:
A linear ball bearing having a guide carriage (2) which is guided on a guide rail (1) in a longitudinally displaceable manner and is mounted in rolling contact on longitudinal sides of the guide rail (1) via balls (3) which are arranged on each longitudinal side in at least two parallel ball rows (4, 5) encircling in endless ball channels (6), each ball (3) of the one ball row (5) together with an adjacent ball (3) of the other ball row (4) being held all round in cage pockets (8) of a common cage piece (7), the cage piece (7) having exactly two cage pockets (8) for one ball (3) each from both ball rows (4, 5), each cage piece (7), as viewed in the running direction of the balls (3), being provided at both ends with convexly curved end surfaces (9) for contact with the end surfaces (9) of adjacent cage pieces (7), which end surfaces (9) extend essentially up to the cage piece sides (10).
Abstract:
The headrest (1) comprises a translation guidance assembly (10) guided along a spindle (2) attached to the seat back and an articulation assembly (20) that is mounted swivelling on the guidance assembly, around an axis (7). A locking member (30) swivels on the guidance assembly (10) around an axis (8) that is parallel to the axis (7), between a locked and an unlocked position. The locking member comprises a pad (31) shaped to press on the spindle (2) in the locked position, and a head (32) that is shaped to lock on a curved section (23), attached to the articulation assembly. In this locked position, that the locking member takes under the effect of inertia after a collision, the headrest can neither pivot backwards nor slide downwards. Application of the headrest is directed to automotive vehicle seats.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for playing back a sequence of images from a run of component images successively supplied in digital form by a remote source to a receiver apparatus having the function of playing back the images of the sequence at a given rate, and in which each image constitutes an independent set that is received in the form of data trains. The apparatus includes verification that each received data train and each run of trains making up a set is valid, storing the most recently received valid set, reconstituting image signals from the most recently received valid set, and a clock for locally and independently generating clock signals for triggering visual reproduction of images as a function of circumstances.
Abstract:
The method of the invention consists in shifting (a) the start of the scrambled section of a composite video line of a television image with respect to the start of the useful part of that line.
Abstract:
In a rolling mill for reducing metal, having upper and lower work rolls between which the metal is passed and at least one back-up roll for the upper work roll, the combination of means for applying coolant to the surface of the upper work roll only on the outgoing side of the mill, casing structure enclosing the locality of coolant application and so arranged that a narrow gap is defined between the upper work roll and a transverse wall of the casing below the coolant-applying means, and means for creating a rapid flow of air along the upper work roll surface adjacent the gap in a direction to prevent exit of coolant through the gap from the casing structure while withdrawing air from the casing structure. The air-flow creating means may include means for maintaining the interior of the casing structure at subatmospheric pressure. A method of cooling the upper work roll in such a mill comprises applying coolant to the surface thereof only at a locality on the outgoing side of the mill while maintaining an enclosure in surrounding relation to the coolant-applying locality with a narrow gap defined between the enclosure and the upper work roll surface at a level below that locality, and directing a rapid flow of air along the latter roll surface adjacent the gap to prevent exit of coolant through the gap. The back-up roll, which is in contact with the upper work roll, cooperates with the foregoing structures and steps to prevent carryover of excessive coolant onto the upper work roll surface on the ingoing side of the mill.
Abstract:
A system includes a turbomachine that includes a stator and a rotor. The rotor is configured to rotate about a rotational axis relative to the stator. In addition, the rotor includes a least one rotary blade, and the at least one rotary blade has a patterned structure of beams and cavities.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a first mirror platform; the first mirror platform has a first portion and a second portion. A media display device is disposed behind the first mirror platform, such that within the second portion information displayed on the media display device is visible when the media display device is on and is viewed from in front of the first mirror platform. A mounting platform is coupled to a back of the first mirror platform to form a door assembly and the mounting platform can also be a mirror platform.
Abstract:
A battery assembly, or module, for a vehicle having a battery compartment that defines an opening in the floor. The battery module is disposed partially within the battery compartment and extends through an opening in the floor of a battery compartment to be partially disposed below the floor of the vehicle. A method of installing a battery module into a vehicle is also disclosed. The battery module is inserted partially into an opening in a floor of a battery compartment with a lower portion of the battery module being retained below the floor and an upper portion of the battery module being retained above the floor. A seal is attached between the battery module and the opening in the floor.
Abstract:
A battery includes a plurality of stacking supports including retaining flanges and support surfaces; and a plurality of generally cylindrical cells. Each cell is supported on a pair of the support surfaces. Each cell has an annular notch defined in a side wall with the annular notch mating with one retaining flange. The cells are arranged upon the stacking supports in a plurality of cell rows. The support surfaces are arranged on the stacking supports in such a manner so that the cells are arranged in a close-packed array and to maintain at least a predetermined distance between adjacent cells.
Abstract:
A cooling system operable to cool a battery pack or other device through a heat exchange operation supported, at least in part, with cycling of a coolant relative to a coldplate or other thermally conducting surface of the device and/or attached thereto.
