The joint between two vehicles or vehicle parts, such as an articulated bus or a railcar for example, comprises at least two joint members (11, 12; 11a, 21a; 111a, 112a) that are held apart from a central longitudinal axis (50) of the vehicle (2, 3; 102, 103) and with at least one, preferably two joint arms (12a, 12, 22; 113, 114) that is/are carried so as to be capable of rotating about the two joint members.

A method for adjusting an internal combustion engine with variable valve timing wherein the current position of the accelerator pedal is associated with a set air mass and a set pressure. The set pressure is compared with a reference pressure and control of the set air mass takes place via the throttling device in the intake pipe when the pressure falls below the reference pressure, and control of the set air mass is carried out via the engine valves when the pressure exceeds the reference pressure.

A speech coding system and associated method relies on a speech encoder (15) and a speech decoder (20). The speech decoder (20) includes an LPC synthesis filter (90), a Gaussian noise generator (80) for generating unvoiced excitation, an epoch-adaptive harmonic generator (70) for generating voiced excitation for pitch harmonics below voicing cutoff frequency, and an excitation summer (72) for summing the voiced and unvoiced excitation generated by the Gaussian noise generator (80) and the harmonic generator (70). The output of the excitation summer (72) is provided to the LPC synthesis filter (90) to generate synthesized speech. The system and method provides natural sounding synthesized speech at a low bit rate.

A transition protector for telescopic gangways with a bellows having one end fixed to a rigid passageway and another end which can be brought to a door opening in the fuselage wall of an aircraft, and which surrounds the telescopic gangway in the manner of a tunnel or tube between its two ends. The front end of the bellows, which can be brought to the fuselage by changing the extension of the bellows, is surrounded by a rigid frame which is attached to the bellows and carries a large, detachably connected strip-shaped bumper, which can be elastomerically deformed on its front side facing the fuselage.

A method is provided for continuous mass polymerization of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene type thermoplastics. The method involves charging a liquid feed comprising a vinylidene aromatic monomer, an unsaturated vinyl nitrile monomer and a synthetic butadiene polymer dissolved therein into a grafting reactor to prereact the liquid mass to form grafted rubber continuous phase polymeric product. The product from the grafting reactor is then charged to a phase inversion reactor where free rigid copolymer in monomer is the only continuous phase, and where dispersed particles of grafted rubber with occluded rigid copolymer and monomer are immediately formed from the product of the grafting reactor. The second polymerization product, which is coming out from the phase inversion reactor, is then charged to a finishing reactor wherein the material is further polymerized to form a third polymerization product which then can be devolatilized to provide a final thermoplastic composition. The process of the present invention provides unique capacity and flexibility in controlling and adjusting rubber grafting and rubber particle morphology. Process conditions can be controlled to produce a high gloss or a low gloss resin product.

A system and methods are provided for remotely recovering and purging data from a wireless device in a communications network. The system includes a wireless device capable of executing a data recovery/purge application program for receiving a message from a communications device in the network. The application program retrieves the data in the wireless device, purges the data from the wireless device, and sends a return message, including the data retrieved from the wireless device, to the communications device.
Abstract:
Methods for routing a call based on voice activated dialing (VAD). A VAD device module may respond to a VAD instruction, or to a call received with a VAD instruction with a corresponding call destination number obtained from a personal VAD directory. If the personal VAD directory fails to include the call destination number, the VAD device module may route the call or initiate a call through a gateway to a VAD network module. The VAD network module may obtain call destination information from the VAD instruction, and may use the call destination information obtain the call destination number. The VAD network module may obtain additional information from the call or other source, and use the additional information to obtain the call destination number. The call then is routed to the call destination number. The call destination number may be added to the personal VAD directory.
