摘要: A method for controlling a dual fuel engine system includes determining a gas flow target for an internal combustion engine of the dual fuel engine system, where the gas flow target is based on a gas power target of the internal combustion engine, a thermal efficiency estimate of the internal combustion engine, and a lower heating value (LHV) within the internal combustion engine. The method also includes adjusting the gas flow target based on at least one of a measured gas temperature or a measured gas injector pressure and determining at least one base gas injector command based on the adjusted gas flow target, a gas substitution rate estimate, and a gas substitution rate target. The method further includes determining, based on the at least one base gas injector command, a gas injector command for at least one engine bank.

摘要: An engine speed control system for an internal combustion engine includes a throttle, and a sensor that monitors a parameter indicative of pressure or density of fuel and air in an inlet manifold of the engine. The electronic control unit is coupled with the throttle and the sensor and structured to calculate a target mass flow through the throttle, a feedforward control term based on the target mass flow, and a feedforward control term based on data produced by the sensor. The electronic control unit is further structured to vary a position of the throttle based on the feedforward and feedback control terms to adjust a mass flow through the throttle toward the target mass flow. The control system is applicable in throttle governed as well as fuel governed systems.

摘要: Techniques for setting a boost target for a turbocharged engine comprise (i) operating the engine in a scavenging mode such that opening of intake and exhaust valves of cylinders of the engine overlap and (ii) while transitioning the engine in/out of the scavenging mode: determining an engine torque request, creating a torque reserve by setting independent targets for throttle inlet pressure (TIP) and intake manifold absolute pressure (MAP), determining a target TIP based on a target total air charge, engine speed, and a previously-determined target engine volumetric efficiency (VE), controlling a wastegate valve based on the target TIP, determining a target MAP based on the engine torque request, and controlling a throttle valve based on the target MAP. During steady-state scavenging operation, the controller calculates a conventional target TIP based on the engine torque request and controls the wastegate valve based on the conventionally calculated target TIP.

摘要: A two-stage air boosting system for an internal combustion engine has a first air boosting system which is one of an electrical air boosting system or a turbocharger air boosting system. The two-stage air boosting system also includes a second air boosting system which is the other one of the electrical air boosting system or the turbocharger air boosting system and is positioned intermediate the first air boosting system and an air intake manifold of the internal combustion engine. A plurality of sensors provides information relating to operation of the two-stage air boosting system including inlet conditions of a compressor of the second air boosting system. A control module is configured to receive a plurality of inputs including the information relating to operation of the two-stage air boosting system, and is further configured to provide a system control command for the two-stage air boosting system responsive to the inputs.

摘要: A control system for a multiple fuel internal combustion engine on a vehicle in a fleet of vehicles may include at least one gas analyzer configured to monitor real-time characteristics of gaseous fuel being supplied to the engine, a fleet management data monitoring module, and a cylinder pressure sensor associated with each cylinder of the engine. The control system may further include a data collection module configured to receive real-time fuel characteristics measurements from the gas analyzer, fleet data characteristic of one or more operational parameters, fuel usage, and performance results for vehicles in the fleet, and cylinder pressure measurements from each of the cylinder pressure sensors. An engine electronic control module may calculate one or more actual combustion parameter values from the real-time cylinder pressure measurements, assign weights to fuel characteristics data, cylinder pressure data, and fleet management data, and control at least one of fuel injection and ignition timing based on the weighted data and any difference between calculated actual combustion parameter values for each cylinder and predetermined combustion parameter values.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for accurately learning the zero point of an intake gas oxygen sensor during selected engine no-fueling conditions. The learned zero point is used to infer EGR flow and accordingly adjust EGR valve control. In addition, EGR valve leakage is diagnosed based on the zero point learned during a DFSO adaptation relative to a zero point learned during an idle adaptation.

摘要: An internal combustion engine includes an air charging system with a boost air system. A method to control the boost air in the air charging system, decoupled from the air and EGR system controls, includes monitoring a reference boost pressure and operating parameters of the air charging system; creating a turbocharger energy balance model of the air charging system; applying feedback linearization control to the turbocharger energy balance model to create an approximately linearized feedback system; and determining a boost control command for the air charging system using the approximately linearized feedback system based on the monitored reference boost pressure and the monitored operating parameters of the air charging system. The boost air in the air charging system is controlled based upon the boost control command.
