Abstract:
Holographic optical traps using the forces exerted by computer-generated holograms to trap, move and otherwise transform mesoscopically textured materials. The efficacy of the present invention is based upon the quality and nature of the diffractive optical element used to create the traps and dynamically use them. Further a landscape of potential energy sites can be created and used to manipulate, sort and process objects.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to an array substrate for use in an IPS-LCD device, which prevents disclination that may occur between common and pixel electrodes. The pixel electrode in a pixel region includes a plurality of pixel fingers and a pixel horizontal portion, and the common electrode in the pixel region includes a plurality of common fingers extending from a common line parallel with the pixel fingers. Each of the common fingers has a gentle slope outline at a portion where the common finger meets the pixel finger, wherein the common fingers do not meet the pixel horizontal portion in the pixel region.
Abstract:
A phosphor having longer lifespan which includes sulfur and has a perovskite structure. The phosphor further satisfies the following formula: MTiO3:A where M is an alkaline earth metal and A is a rare earth element. The sulfur-containing phosphor shows good luminance and lifespan characteristics compared to existing SrTiO3 based phosphors, without containing cadmium that is harmful to the environment. Therefore, the phosphor is advantageously utilized for various display applications including vacuum fluorescent displays (VFDs) and field emission displays (FEDs).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing content in a broadcast system is provided. Upon receipt of a request for synchronization from a mobile terminal, a set-top box creates a recommended content list based on user information received from the mobile terminal and delivers the recommended content list to the mobile terminal. The set-top box receives from the mobile terminal a content list, selected from the recommended content list and included in a Personal Information Management System (PIMS) updated using the recommended content list. The set-top box determines whether a user of the mobile terminal intends to view content from the received content list at a start time of the content. Upon receipt of view acceptance information from the mobile terminal, the set-top box sends a request for the content to a service provider at the start time, receives the requested content from the service provider, and provides the received content to the mobile terminal.
Abstract:
In-line holography to create images of a specimen, such as one or more particles dispersed in a transparent medium. Analyzing these images with results from light scattering theory yields the particles' sizes with nanometer resolution, their refractive indexes to within one part in a thousand, and their three dimensional positions with nanometer resolution. This procedure can rapidly and directly characterize mechanical, optical and chemical properties of the specimen and its medium.
Abstract:
A method of operating a conversational messaging service may include assigning an identification number to messages transmitted by users participating in a group chat, sequentially, selecting an identification number of any one of messages associated with each of the users as a watermark of each of the users, and determining a number of users failing to read each of the each of the messages, based on the watermark of each of the users.
