Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an image processing method and apparatus for detecting the lines of images and the start and end points of the lines. The image processing apparatus includes an edge creation unit, a Hough transform unit, and an effective parameter detection unit. The edge creation unit creates an edge image using external image data input from the outside. The Hough transform unit performs a Hough transform on information about the pixel coordinates of the edge image created by the edge creation unit. The effective parameter detection unit detects the lines of the edge image by checking effective line parameters using the results of the Hough transform. The image processing apparatus may further include an edge list for storing coordinates of effective pixels constituting the edge image and a line parameter list for storing the effective line parameters.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are a refrigerator and a defrost control method thereof that are capable of sensing an amount of frost formed on an evaporator based on a change amount of absolute humidity in the refrigerator to control a defrost operation. A defrost control method of a refrigerator including a storage chamber and an evaporator to cool the storage chamber, includes sensing absolute humidity in the storage chamber, determining an estimated amount of frost formed on the evaporator using time segments in which the absolute humidity in the storage chamber decreases, and controlling a defrost operation based on the estimated amount of frost. According to the present embodiments, it is possible to perform the defrost operation at the point of time for optimum defrost, thereby maximizing energy efficiency and cooling efficiency.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a turbidity sensor, which correctly senses a turbidity of water although the surface of the turbidity sensor is covered with foreign substances, such as scale, and an electric home appliance having the turbidity sensor. The turbidity sensor includes a light emitting part emitting light, a first light receiving part receiving light emitted from the light emitting part and travelling straight, a second light receiving part receiving light emitted from the light emitting part and scattered, and a control unit determining a turbidity of water according to a ratio of the amounts of the light received by the plurality of light receiving parts. The first light receiving part is installed in a direction of directly receiving the light emitted from the light emitting part, and the second light receiving part is installed in another direction of not directly receiving the light emitted from the light emitting part.
Abstract:
A device to detect a heat source, which can detect position of a heat source faster and more efficiently using a sensor capable of detecting a heat source, a home appliance having such a detecting device and a method of detecting a heat source are disclosed. The heat source detecting method includes performing a first mode to scan an overall area to be searched, performing a second mode to scan at least one specific region included in the area to be searched, and detecting a heat source in the area to be searched by selectively controlling a sensor the first mode and the second mode. Accordingly, a period of renewing position information of a heat source is shortened, and unnecessary detecting operation is eliminated. As a result, the heat source detecting device can more efficiently detect a heat source, using a sensor having limited performance.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for determining operation of location update in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus includes a receiver, an interpreter, and a determiner. In an idle mode, the receiver receives a paging advertisement message from a Base Station (BS). The interpreter identifies paging group identification information included in the paging advertisement message. The determiner determines one of execution and non-execution of a location update process due to a change of a paging group if the paging group identification information is different from paging group identification information included in a previously received paging advertisement message.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a semiconductor single crystal uses a Czochralski (CZ) process in which a seed crystal is dip into a melt of semiconductor raw material and dopant received in a crucible, and the seed crystal is slowly pulled upward while rotated to grow a semiconductor single crystal. Here, a cusp-type asymmetric magnetic field having different upper and lower magnetic field intensities based on ZGP (Zero Gauss Plane) where a vertical component of the magnetic field is 0 is applied to the crucible such that a specific resistance profile, theoretically calculated in a length direction of crystal, is expanded in a length direction of crystal. Thus, thickness of a diffusion boundary layer near a solid-liquid interface is increased to increase an effective segregation coefficient of dopant, thereby expanding a specific resistance profile in a length direction of crystal, increasing a prime length of the single crystal, and improving productivity.
Abstract:
A non-aqueous electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery is provided. The electrolyte comprises a lithium salt, a non-aqueous solvent, and an organic compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by Formulae (1) to (6): wherein R1 to R12 are each independently selected from the group consisting of primary, secondary, and tertiary alkyl groups, alkenyl groups, and aryl groups; X is hydrogen or halogen; and n and m are numerical values ranging from 0 to 3.
