摘要： A liquid crystal panel according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a liquid crystal cell; a first polarizer placed on one side of the liquid crystal cell; a second polarizer placed on another side of the liquid crystal cell; a biaxial optical element placed between the liquid crystal cell and the first polarizer; and a negative C plate placed between the second polarizer and the biaxial optical element. A direction of an absorption axis of the first polarizer is substantially perpendicular to a direction of an absorption axis of the second polarizer. A refractive index ellipsoid of the biaxial optical element has a relationship of nx>nz>ny and a direction of a slow axis of the biaxial optical element is substantially parallel to the direction of the absorption axis of the first polarizer. A refractive index ellipsoid of the negative C plate has a relationship of nx=ny>nz. A wavelength dispersion value (D1) of the biaxial optical element and a wavelength dispersion value (D2) of the negative C plate satisfy a relationship of D1≧D2.

The liquid crystal panel includes a first polarizer 14a, a second polarizer 14b, and a liquid crystal cell 13. The first polarizer 14a is arranged on the visible side of the liquid crystal cell 13 and the second polarizer 14b is arranged on the backlight side of the liquid crystal cell 13. The liquid crystal panel further includes a first retardation layer 11 and a second retardation layer 12. A refractive index ellipsoid of the first retardation layer 11 has a relationship of nx=ny>nz, and a refractive index ellipsoid of the second retardation layer 12 has a relationship of nx>ny≧nz. The first retardation layer 11 and the second retardation layer 12 are arranged between the liquid crystal cell 13 and the second polarizer 14b.

摘要： The present invention provides a laminate optical body, which is excellent in production efficiency, shows an extremely small axis shift and can realize a liquid crystal display apparatus showing small display unevenness. The laminate optical body of the present invention includes an elongated polarizing film having an absorption axis in a short direction thereof, and including a base material layer and a hydrophilic polymer layer to which a dichromatic substance adsorbs; and an elongated retardation film having a slow axis in a lengthwise direction thereof. The polarizing film is a laminate including the base material layer and the hydrophilic polymer layer to which a dichromatic substance adsorbs. The laminate optical body is elongated. Preferably, the hydrophilic polymer layer has a thickness of 1 μm to 10 μm.
