    摘要: A neutralization unit for use in an image forming apparatus includes a support member made of an insulating material, an electric-charge removing member made of an electric conductive material, and a rib made of an insulating material. The electric-charge removing member, fixed on the support member, removes electric charge from a back face of the recording medium after a toner image is transferred to a front face of a recording medium at a transfer nip. The electric-charge removing member includes a plurality of exposed areas along a longitudinal direction of the electric-charge removing member. The rib, provided on the support member, has a curved peripheral side and protrudes from a surface of the electric-charge removing member. The back face of the recording medium is contactable at the curved peripheral side of the rib when the recording medium is transported from the transfer nip.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying member, an intermediate transfer member, a charging member, a transfer mechanism, a discharging member, a direct current voltage source, and a direct current voltage controller. The intermediate transfer member is deposited at a position facing and in contact with the image carrying member rotatably carrying a toner image on a rotating surface, and receives the toner image therefrom during a first transfer operation. The charging member applies a charge to the intermediate transfer member to cause an electric field around a region where the image carrying member and the intermediate transfer member contact with each other, where the electric field generates a force for initiating the first transfer operation. The transfer mechanism performs a second transfer operation for transferring the toner image from the intermediate transfer member to a transfer sheet. The discharging member performs a discharging operation for discharging the charge remaining on the intermediate transfer member with contacting the intermediate transfer member after a completion of the second transfer operation. The direct current voltage source applies a direct current voltage to the discharging member to cause the discharging member to perform the discharging operation. The direct current voltage controller controls the direct current voltage in accordance with a volume resistivity of the intermediate transfer member.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus which utilizes an intermediate transfer member. Plural toner images, for example of different colors, can be superimposed on the intermediate transfer member, and then can be transferred to a paper sheet. A discharging device is provided for discharging a charge applied to the intermediate transfer member. Further, a value of a voltage provided by this discharging device and/or a voltage provided for a transfer bias is proportional to an actual surface potential on the intermediate transfer member, which is proportional to the number of times toner images have been formed on the intermediate transfer member prior to transfer to the paper sheet. For example, if a full color toner image is formed on the intermediate transfer member, which may result from four operations of transferring individual toner images onto the intermediate transfer member, a voltage provided by the discharger and/or by a transfer bias device will be higher than that if only a monocolor image has been formed on the intermediate transfer member. Further, the image forming apparatus can be operable to form images on thicker paper, and in this instance a drive speed of devices in the image forming apparatus can be reduced, and a voltage applied to a pre-charger can also accordingly be reduced. The image forming apparatus can also include a cleaning device from the intermediate transfer belt, and the functions of both the intermediate transfer member discharging device and a cleaning device can be combined in one brush roller.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a transfer device to transfer an image on an image carrier to a transfer sheet. The transfer device includes a transfer roller and transfers an image on the image carrier to a transfer sheet conveyed into a transfer area between the transfer roller and the image carrier by applying a bias voltage to the transfer roller. The transfer device includes a device to apply a release agent for an alien substance to a surface of the transfer roller. Toner and an alien substance, such as paper dust, thereby hardly adheres to the release agent applied on the surface of the transfer roller. Even if toner and/or an alien substance are put on the release agent applied on the surface of the transfer roller, such toner and/or an alien substance are easily removed by a cleaning device. Thus, lowering of an image quality due to insufficient cleaning of the transfer roller is avoided.

    摘要: An information signal detection device and an information signal detection method are disclosed with which it is possible to transmit information by means of a DTMF signal using a channel that is prone to distortion, such as a high-efficiency channel. The information signal detection device comprises a filter bank component and a logic component. The filter bank component receives via a channel an information signal in which are superposed sine waves of two different frequencies selected from a specific number of frequencies sent by the sender, and generates binary information patterns showing in binary information whether the signal components of the various frequencies of this information signal are present. The logic component recognizes the end of the signal region when the binary information pattern generated in the binary information pattern generation step is containing no binary information showing that a signal component is present continuously for a specific period of time. The logic component also integrates the binary information patterns which indicate that at least one type of frequency signal component is contained and which are output from the filter bank component until the end of the signal period is recognized. One the end of the signal period has been recognized, the logic component decides the contents of the DTMF signal sent from the sender based on these integration results.
