The present invention relates to a pigmented aqueous basecoat material including a polyether-based reaction product which is preparable by reaction of (a) at least one carboxy-functional component which is preparable by esterification reaction of at least one dihydroxycarboxylic acid (a1) with at least one dicarboxylic acid (a2) and/or the anhydride of a dicarboxylic acid (a2), the components (a1) and (a2) being used in a molar ratio of 0.5/3.0 to 1.7/1.8, with (b) at least one polyether of a general structural formula (I) in which R is a C3 to C6 alkylene radical and n is selected accordingly such that the polyether (b) possesses a number-average molecular weight of 500 to 5000 g/mol, the components (a) and (b) being used in the reaction in a molar ratio of 0.7/2.3 to 1.6/1.7, and the resulting reaction product possessing an acid number of 10 to 50 mg KOH/g.

The present invention relates to an aqueous coating composition comprising at least one aqueous dispersion comprising at least one copolymer (CP), said copolymer (CP) being preparable by (i) initially charging an aqueous dispersion of at least one polyurethane, and then (ii) polymerizing a mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers in the presence of the polyurethane from (i), in which (a) a water-soluble initiator is used, (b) the olefinically unsaturated monomers are metered in such that a concentration of 6.0% by weight, based on the total amount of olefinically unsaturated monomers used for polymerization, in the reaction solution is not exceeded over the entire reaction time, and (c) the mixture of the olefinically unsaturated monomers comprises at least one polyolefinically unsaturated monomer and at least one linear hydroxy-functional reaction product (R) having an acid number less than 20 mg KOH/g, the preparation of which involves using at least one compound (v) containing two functional groups (v.a) and an aliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbyl radical (v.b) which is arranged between the functional groups and has 12 to 70 carbon atoms. The present invention also relates to a method for producing a multicoat paint system using the coating composition, and to the multicoat coating thus produced.

Described are coating material compositions comprising an isocyanate group-containing component, a hydroxyl group-containing component, and a zinc (1-methylimidazole)bis(2-ethylhexanoate) complex. Also described is the use of a zinc (1-methylimidazole)bis(2-ethylhexanoate) complex as a catalyst system for the urethane reaction in coating material compositions.

Described are nonaqueous coating material compositions comprising (A) at least one polyhydroxyl group-containing compound, (B) at least one polyisocyanate group-containing compound having free or blocked isocyanate groups, (D) at least one catalyst (D) based on a zinc-amidine complex which is preparable by reacting one or more zinc(II) biscarboxylates with an amidine of the formula (I) or with a mixture of two or more amidines of the formula (I) and (S) at least one monomeric aromatic optionally substituted carboxylic acid (S) whose carboxyl group is in conjugation with a π-electron system, wherein the component (B) comprises at least one structural unit —NR—(X—SiR″x(OR′)3-x) (II), and/or at least one structural unit —N(X—SiR″x(OR′)3-x)n(X′—SiR″y(OR′)3-y)m (III). The present invention relates to a reaction product preparable by reacting (a) dimer fatty acids with (b) at least one compound (b) of the general structural formula (I) where R is a C3 to C6 alkylene radical and n correspondingly is selected such that the compound (b) possesses a number-average molecular weight of 120 to 445 g/mol, components (a) and (b) are used in a molar ratio of 0.7/2.3 to 1.6/1.7, and the resulting reaction product possesses a number-average molecular weight of 600 to 4000 g/mol and an acid number of less than 10 mg KOH/g. The invention further relates to a pigmented aqueous basecoat material which comprises this reaction product, and to the use of the reaction product in pigmented aqueous basecoat materials for improving adhesion. The present invention further relates to a method for producing multicoat paint systems, and also to the multicoat paint systems producible by means of said method.
