摘要: A polymer having a hydrophobic polymer chain derived from monomers of farnesene and other optional monomers, such as dienes and vinyl aromatics. The polymer also includes one or more terminal functional groups, such as an amino group, a glycidyl group, a carboxylic acid group, a (meth)acrylate group, a silane group, an isocyanate group, an acetoacetate group, a phenolic group, and a hydroxyl group. Functional groups, such as carboxylic acids, may also be grafted along the hydrophobic polymer chain. The polymer may be incorporated in curable compositions that optionally include one or more polymer resins having similar functional groups. Methods for preparing the curable polymer compositions are also provided. The curable or cured form of the polymer composition may be used in various products, such as a sealant, a coating, a caulk, an electric potting compound, a membrane, a sponge, a foam, an adhesive, or a propellant binder.

摘要: The present invention is directed to curable compositions comprising: (a) a polyene; (b) a polythiol, present in an amount greater than 10 percent by weight based on the total weight of components (a) and (b) in the curable composition; and (c) a catalytic component consisting essentially of: (i) a metal compound; and (ii) a compound different from (i) that catalyzes an addition reaction between an ethylenically unsaturated compound and a thiol. The catalytic composition is essentially free of vanadium compounds. In the curable composition, either (1) both components (i) and (ii) of the catalytic composition (c) are added as a single package to (a) and/or (b); or (2) component (i) and/or (ii) of the catalytic composition (c) is added in separate packages to (a) and/or (b) of the curable composition. The present invention is further drawn to coated articles and methods of extending pot life of a curable composition.

摘要: A method for forming a multilayer coating film, sequentially conducting step (1) of applying an aqueous 2-package type first colored paint on both a metal member and a plastic member of an automobile outer panel to form an uncured first colored coating film; step (2) of applying an aqueous 1-package type white paint on the uncured first colored coating film by step (1) to form an uncured white coating film; step (3) of applying an aqueous 1-package type interference color paint on the uncured white coating film by step (2) to form an uncured interference color coating film; step (4) of applying a solvent-based 2-package type clear paint on the uncured interference color coating film by step (3) to form an uncured clear coating film; and step (5) of heating these coating films by steps (1) to (4) at 75 to 100° C. to simultaneously cure them.

摘要: Durable antibacterial coatings are prepared by inter-diffusing zwitterionic polyurethane in acrylic polyurethane. Bacterial attachment is substantially eliminated from the surface of the coatings due to the hydrophilicity of the zwitterionic polyurethane. Long-term antibacterial properties were observed for both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria even when the coatings were constantly challenged by mechanical abrasion.

摘要: The present invention relates to an aqueous coating composition comprising polyurethane A and vinyl polymer, wherein the polyurethane A comprising as building blocks at least: (a) a polyisocyanate(s) containing at least one cyclic group, (b) a non-cyclic aliphatic diisocyanate(s) whereby the non-cyclic aliphatic group connecting the two isocyanate groups has 5 carbon atoms, and (c) a component(s) containing an isocyanate-reactive group(s), whereby the summed amount of (a) and (b) is 10 to 60 wt. %, relative to the total weight amount of components used to prepare the polyurethane A; and whereby the weight ratio between (a) and (b) is in the range from 50:50 to 99:1.
