Abstract: Methods include training a machine learning module to predict one or more target product properties for a prospective chemical formulation, including (a) constructing or updating a training data set from one or more variable parameters; (b) performing feature selection on the training data set; (c) building one or more machine learning models using one or more model architectures; (d) validating the one or more machine learning models; (e) selecting at least one of the one or more machine learning models and generating prediction intervals; (g) interpreting the one or more machine learning models; and (h) determining if the one or more target product properties calculated are acceptable and deploying one or more trained machine learning models, or optimizing the one or more machine learning models by repeating steps (b) to (g). Methods also include application of trained machine learning modules to predict formulation properties from prospective data.

Abstract: Methods include generating a hypothetical formulation library of chemical formulations, including generating hypothetical formulations by one or more of: (a) directed combinatorics including: selecting starter formulations from historical data; performing substitution of one or more formulation components in at least one component class; and assigning concentration ratios within ranges established by the historical data; and (2) constrained randomization including: preparing template formulations including one or more component classes based on historical data; performing randomized substitution of formulation components in each of the component classes of the template formulations; randomly assign concentration ratios to the formulation components within ranges established by one or more constraints to produce hypothetical formulations; create descriptors for the hypothetical formulations; compare descriptor outputs from the hypothetical formulations with the range of descriptor outputs from the historical data; and remove duplicate and outlier formulations; and collecting the hypothetical formulations into the hypothetical formulation library.

Abstract: Polyurethanes are made in a one-shot process from one or more polyols having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 350, wherein at least 50% of the weight of iii) is a hydroxyl-containing polymer of propylene oxide, the hydroxyl-containing polymer of propylene oxide having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 350, an average of 1.8 to 3 hydroxyl groups per molecule of which hydroxyl groups 40 to 70% are primary hydroxyl groups, an oxyethylene content of no greater than 10% by weight based on the weight of the polymer and a polydispersity of 1.175 or less. The polyurethanes exhibit excellent mechanical properties, are highly hygroscopic and cured rapidly.
