摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for humidifying fuel, and optionally oxidant, supplied to a fuel cell system, which can be a single fuel cell or a multiplicity of fuel cells. A catalytic reactor is provided, which is supplied with a portion of the fuel and the oxidant. The fuel is supplied in excess of the oxidant to the catalytic reactor, so as to generate a stream of fuel which is both heated and humidified. For a closed system, a heated and humidified fuel flow, and optionally a heated and humidified oxidant flow, are mixed with additional flows of these gases supplied to the fuel cell.

摘要: A multi-room video teleconferencing station which uses a single personal computer (PC) to provide video teleconferencing from local or remote locations. Two audio/video heads are attached to the system. A first audio/video head is local to the PC and allows a user to place video teleconference calls from a desktop system in the user's office or from a second audio/video head located at a remote location, such as a conference room. Each audio/video head includes a video display, a camera, a microphone, and a speaker. The second audio/video head allows a user to place a video teleconference call from another room while using the PC in the user's office to perform communications and control functions. The audio/video teleconference function can be disabled at both audio/video heads or selectively activated at either the first or second audio/video head. The second audio/video head has optional data entry capability to allow a user to remotely activate the system. Alternative embodiments use multiple second audio/video heads to provide more extended video teleconferencing capability. Multiple teleconferencing stations can be networked via LANs or servers.

摘要: The invention relates to a management method for managing a turning movement of an aircraft taxiing on the ground, the aircraft having wheels each fitted with an independent drive device, in which method commands are generated for the independent drive devices so that at least some of those devices contribute to the turning movement. According to the invention, the method comprises the steps of: estimating at each instant during the turning movement: an instantaneous total power developed by all of the independent drive devices in response to the commands; and an instantaneous mean angular acceleration for all of the wheels; and adapting the commands to the independent drive devices such that the total instantaneous power developed by all of the independent drive devices is minimized, while conserving the mean angular acceleration.

摘要: A sensor interface system and a sensor integration module support individual sensors and sensor arrays, with network connectivity and critical functions required for analog and digital sensors when deployed in field applications used for chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear and explosives (CBRNE) material identification. The sensor integration module enables efficient integration of a single sensor or for multiple sensors into an array using a modular sensor interface unit and provides individual TCP/IP addresses for each detector element, signal processing for the sensor data and communications capabilities establishing each detector and the sensor array as network elements on a distributed network.

摘要: A process of rapid and highly accurate analysis of spectral data, includes both a linear scanning (LINSCAN) method and an advanced peak detection method for pattern recognition. One or both of the methods are used to support the detection and identification of chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear and explosive materials. The spectra of various targets can be analyzed by the two spectral analysis methods. These two methods can be combined for dual confirmation, greater accuracy, and to reduced false positives and false negatives, relative to what can be accomplished by either alone.

摘要: The present invention provides a method using a damascene-gate process to improve the transport properties of FETs through strain Si. Changes in mobility and FET characteristics are deliberately made in a Si or silicon-on-insulator (SOI) structure through the introduction of local strain in the channel region, without introducing strain in the device source and drain regions. The method has the advantage of not straining the source and drain regions resulting in very low leakage junctions and also it does not require any special substrate preparation like the case of a strained Si/relaxed SiGe system. Moreover, the method is compatible with existing mainstream CMOS processing. The present invention also provides a CMOS device that has a localized strained Si channel that is formed using the method of the present invention.
