摘要: A socket connector includes a rectangular base defining an array of slots arranged in rows and columns parallel to edges thereof. The slots receive and retain contact elements therein. A rectangular cover is movably supported on the base and defines holes therein corresponding to the slots for receiving pins of a central processing unit (CPU). The base has lugs formed on two diagonal corners thereof each forming a wall substantially normal to the diagonal direction. The cover forms a straight edge at a comer corresponding to each lug of the base. A triangular notch is formed in each wall having a first side inclined with respect to the diagonal direction and a second side substantially parallel to the diagonal direction. The notch is capable of receiving a screwdriver therein and allows the screwdriver to rotate. The rotation of the screwdriver causes an edge thereof to partially project beyond the wall and drivingly engages with the corresponding straight edge of the cover for moving the cover with respect to the base thereby driving the pins of the CPU to engage with the contact elements.

摘要: An auxiliary device comprises a body with a planar surface for engaging with a vacuum nozzle. A pair of supporting portions perpendicularly extends from lateral edges of the body and forms a receiving space for receiving the assembled electrical connector. A stand-off portion is formed at a free end of each supporting portion. The height of the stand-off portion is less than the height (diameter) of the solder balls before soldering, and equal to the height of solder balls after soldering. Thus, the height of the solder balls is determined by the height of the stand-off portions and the planarity of the electrical connector is ensured by the stand-off portions. The provision of the stand-off portions also prevents solder wicking.

摘要: An electrical connector comprises a dielectric base defining a number of contact receiving holes, a slidable cover fixed to the base and defining a number of pin receiving slots for receiving corresponding pins of an IC package therein, and a number of contacts received in the corresponding contact receiving slots of the base. Each contact comprises a main body for supporting the contact, a contact portion comprising contact tabs extending from the main body for electrically contacting the corresponding pin of the IC package, a guiding portion extending from the contact tabs for guiding the corresponding pin of the IC package to properly engage with the contact tabs, and a soldering portion extending from the main body for being surface mounted to a circuit board. The soldering portion of each contact comprises a pad adapted for being surface mounted to the circuit board, and a shoulder extending from and projecting above the plane of the pad for preventing molten solder from wicking upwards. A neck is formed between the main body and the soldering portion for providing the soldering portion with proper resiliency relative to the main body. A pair of cutouts is defined in the main body of the contact at opposite sides of the neck and proximate the shoulder for receiving molten solder therein and for preventing the molten solder from further wicking upwards.

摘要: A land grid array connector is electrically connected between a first electrical device and a second electrical device. The land grid array connector comprises an insulative rectangular housing defining a plurality of passageways therein for respectively receiving a resilient contact therein which has a first end electrically contacting with the first electrical device and a second end electrically contacting with the second electrical device. The insulative housing has a body portion and four raised sides extending upward from the body portion, thereby defining a central cavity between the four raised sides for receiving the first electrical device. A first resilient arm and a second resilient arm are formed in respective adjacent raised sides for fittingly engaging the first electrical device in the central cavity.

摘要: A contact module with connectors adapted to engage with first and second electrical conductors such that when resiliently interfaced with the conductors there is a net zero moment of inertia exerted on the conductors. Each individual connector exerts a resilient spring force to engage with an electrical conductor. When such resilient forces, as in the prior art are aggregated, they can exert a considerable vectored moment of inertia on the electrical conductors to which they are connected. The connectors of the present invention are arranged so that each individual connector has an opposing connector somewhere in the module to offset each individual moment of inertia so that the net sum of all moments on the interfacing electrical conductor is zero.
