Abstract: Disclosed is a corrosion inhibition coating, comprising: a base comprising a silicate matrix, wherein aluminum, an aluminum alloy, or a combination thereof, is present within the silicate matrix; and an inhibitor comprising: zinc molybdate, cerium citrate, magnesium metasilicate, a metal phosphate silicate, or a combination thereof, wherein a curing temperature of the corrosion inhibition coating is about 20° C. to about 190° C., preferably about 20° C. to about 120° C. Also disclosed is a substrate coated with the corrosion inhibition coating, wherein the substrate is a peened part.

Abstract: A polymer-matrix fiber-reinforced composite structure includes a plurality of polymer composite layers having at least one polymer composite layer that includes a first polymer-matrix and a first fluorescent agent interspersed through the first polymer-matrix. Damage to the polymer composite structure results in a change in fluorescence at the point of damage. A method for detecting damage in the polymer composite structure described above including the steps of applying light having a wavelength selected to induce fluorescence in the first fluorescent agent to the polymer composite structure, detecting a detected fluorescence pattern, and comparing the detected fluorescence pattern to a predetermined normal fluorescence pattern.

Abstract: A method of forming a composite structure including passing a web that is impregnated with an uncured resin in an assembly direction. Foam is forced about opposed sides of the web with the web including corrugations at least after this step. Outer skins of a fiber mat are attached onto outer sides of the web and foam. The fiber mat is impregnated with a resin. The combination of the fiber mats, the foam and the web is thermoformed in a mold to provide a shape for a structure.
