摘要: A process for delamination of a layered silicate in an aqueous medium includes treating a synthetic or naturally occurring 2:1 clay mineral layered silicate with a delamination agent, and contacting the treated layered silicate with an aqueous medium. An amount of the delamination agent used to treat the layered silicate can be at least equal to the cation exchange capacity of the layered silicate. A delaminated layered silicate can be obtained from the process and provided in a dispersion, a composite, or a barrier.

摘要: The disclosure provides a coating composition for improving the sag resistance of a fibrous panel, the composition including 10 to 100 wt. % inorganic binder, based on the total weight of the dry coating, wherein the inorganic binder includes a borate salt and at least one of an alkali metal silicate or an alkaline earth metal silicate, and the inorganic binder is water soluble. 摘要: Bulk paint and ceramic powder systems, methods of forming same, and methods of forming a flexible ceramic coating on a metal substrate are disclosed. The systems may include a ceramic composition having between 2 to 30 weight percent of an alkali metal oxide, such as K2O, Na2O, and Li2O or mixtures thereof, between 10 to 74 weight percent SiO2, and between 23 to 79 weight percent B2O3. Additives that are nonwetting with molten metals, such as boron nitride, provide durable coatings for metal processing operations. The ceramic composition may include less than 5 weight percent additional metal oxides. The bulk paint system further may include water and a cellulosic suspension agent to form a bulk paint. The ceramic powder system may be processed to form a uniform powder. The bulk paint or uniform powder may be applied to a metal substrate, such as a ferrous metal substrate, dried, and heated to form a flexible coating on the metal substrate.

摘要: An emulsion composition includes an acrylic polymer, a metal silicate, and water. Advantageously, the emulsion composition provides coatings with superior adhesion of coatings to a concrete, clay, or ceramic substrate. In particular, the emulsion composition provides improved adhesion of the silicate primer to the concrete, clay, or ceramic substrate and strong cohesion between the primer and top coat paint allow for a much better overall performance. A method for applying the emulsion composition is also provided.

摘要: A non-aqueous solution-suspension of R2O—SiO2—B2O3 comprises in the dry state a composition of 2 to 30 weight percent R2O, wherein R2O is an alkali metal oxide; between 10 to 74 weight percent SiO2; and between 23 to 79 weight percent B2O3. 摘要: A superhydrophobic ceramic coating that is transparent and durable includes a dispersion of a multiplicity of silica nanoparticles stacked to form a topography that is rough that is infused with and conformally coated with a sol-gel glass matrix that has a fluoroalkyl silane or an alkyl silane monolayer on the surface of the coating. The silica nanoparticles do not scatter light to a large extent as they are sufficiently small and free of aggregation. The sol-gel glass is formed from a trialkoxysilane precursor and applied to the stacked silica nanoparticles to retain the rough topography of the deposited nanoparticles.
