    摘要: A field emitter array includes electron-beam source elements, each including a cathode for emitting electrons and a gate provided in the vicinity of the cathode. To emit electrons from the cathode by the field emission effect, a cathode voltage is applied to the cathode and a gate voltage is applied to the gate. An anode is arranged in proximity to the cathode and supplied with a positive anode voltage to capture electrons from the cathode in a first (e.g., normal or display) mode of operation. In a second (e.g., cleaning) mode of operation of the field emitter array, a negative anode voltage is supplied to the anode to urge electrons emitted by a first cathode, back toward a second cathode supplied with a cathode voltage which attracts electrons, to clean the second cathode.

    摘要: The grayscale levels of red, green and blue display data are detected in each sub-frame, and the intensity of incident light on a liquid crystal panel and the transmittance of the liquid crystal panel are adjusted based on the detection result. The transmittance of the liquid crystal panel is adjusted to have maximum transmittance for display data that requires a maximum amount of transmitted light in each of red, green and blue sub-frames, and the intensity of incident light is reduced according to the adjustment result of the transmittance. By reducing the amount of incident light on the display element to the minimum required amount, the power consumed by a back-light is reduced as much as possible while maintaining the display images of the respective colors according to the grayscale levels.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for forming barrier ribs of a plasma display panel. A master of barrier ribs for fabricating a mold for transferring barrier ribs is easily produced without the use of a machining technique. In the method for forming barrier ribs of a plasma display panel, a light-transmissive substrate having a predetermined pattern of a light-tight material formed on a surface and a photosensitive material layer bonded on the pattern is exposed to light from the rear surface of the light-transmissive substrate and developed so as to fabricate a master in which convex portions in a rib configuration are formed on the light-transmissive substrate. By using the master, a transfer mold for barrier ribs is fabricated. A rib material is filled in concave portions of the transfer mold and transferred onto a substrate for a PDP, thereby forming barrier ribs on the substrate for the PDP.
