摘要: A band brake drum supporting device for an automatic transmission having a band drum to be retained in a case by fastening a band brake which is joined to a rotary element of the automatic transmission and arranged in the case. The drum includes a band engaging portion and a cylindrical drum supporting portion extending radially inward from the band engaging portion while being offset axially with respect to the band engaging portion. The outer circumference of the drum supporting portion is supported through two axially juxtaposed bearings on a stationary support portion which extends radially outward of the drum supporting portion from the case. The stationary support portion includes a cylindrical boss portion disposed coaxially with the drum supporting portion and engaging at its inner circumference with the two bearings and a planar flange portion extending radially outward from the end portion of the boss portion which is located closer to the band brake.

摘要: A 5-speed automatic transmission for a vehicle having a highly efficient top gear, a compact construction and a wide overall range of gear ratios. The automatic transmission has a speed changer which provides five gear stages, namely two speeds on the speed decreasing side and two speeds on the speed increasing side with a direct-coupled gear therebetween. The speed changer includes a ring gear connected to an output shaft, a first carrier, a first sun gear, a second carrier connected to the first carrier, a stepped pinion gear supported by these two carriers, and a sun gear meshing with the pinion gear. The first carrier is connected to an input shaft by a clutch and the first sun gear is connected to the input shaft by a clutch. The first sun gear may be stopped by a first brake, a second brake stops the second sun gear and a third brake is provided to stop a third sun gear. Top gear is achieved by meshing of the pinion gear with the second sun gear and the ring gear. Top gear is thus achieved with the equivalent of only one planetary gear set of intermeshing elements and without loss of efficiency. Also, the arrangement of the three planetary gear sets of the transmission is such that one planetary gear set can be easily removed to make a 4-speed transmission derived from the 5-speed transmission of the invention.

摘要: A multi-stage automatic transmission using a reduction planetary gear and a planetary gear set in which the respective thrust forces generated thereat are supported by a low bearing load or a low case load. The automatic transmission is provided with a reduction planetary gear, coupled to an input shaft to fix a reaction force element so as to output a reduction rotation to an output element, and a planetary gear set, that outputs a speed shift rotation upon input of the subsequent reduction rotation. During at least first gear driving, there is provided a force transmission route in which thrust forces generated at one element of the reduction planetary gear and one element of the planetary gear set, respectively, are transmitted. In that route, a torsion direction of the spiral teeth of the respective elements are set such that a direction of a thrust force of the element and a direction of the thrust force of the other element are different from each other during first gear driving.

摘要: A vehicular automatic transmission for establishing a plurality of forward gear stages, includes: a transmission case; an input shaft; a transmission mechanism connected to the input shaft and including a plurality of transmission elements; an output shaft connected to the transmission mechanism; first and second clutches at opposite ends of the transmission mechanism and drivably connecting the input shaft with at least one of the transmission elements; and first and second hydraulic servos for applying the first and second clutches responsive to feed of an oil pressure. The transmission case encloses the transmission mechanism, the clutches and the hydraulic servos, and includes axial end walls forming cylinders for the hydraulic servos. First and second bearings are arranged between the pistons of the hydraulic servos and the first and second clutches, respectively, for allowing the relative rotation between the pistons and the clutches and for transmitting the thrust forces from the pistons to the respective clutches.

In the second highest gear range or state, a first pinion P1 has a diameter smaller than that of a second pinion P2, both pinions P1 and P2 being coupled integrally and at least partially determining the second highest gear ratio. The gear ratio .lambda..sub.2 in the second highest gear range is described as 1+(Z.sub.S2 /Z.sub.R1).times.(Z.sub.P1 /Z.sub.P2). Since (Z.sub.P1 /Z.sub.P2) is always equal to 1.0 or less, the gear ratio can be made smaller without enlarging the diameter of the ring gear R1 significantly to decrease the gear ratio step to the highest gear range.

摘要: In order to improve transmission efficiency of an automatic transmission, an engagement brake which does not cause drag is used and the surety of its engagement and release, and quick switching between forward maneuver and backward maneuver, is enabled. The automatic transmission comprises a transmission mechanism to achieve forward maneuver and backward maneuver. A backward motion brake which stops the rotation element to achieve backward maneuver is the engagement brake and an input clutch to transfer power by meshing with the rotation element during both forward maneuver and backward maneuver is a friction clutch. The control apparatus executes the control operation to prepare for speedy re-meshing by holding a supply pressure for the clutch hydraulic servo at a sufficient oil pressure to place the pressure in the stand-by condition at the piston stroke position immediately before the start of clutch engagement during the engagement or releasing of engagement of the engagement brake at the time of D.fwdarw.R or R.fwdarw.D shift.

摘要: A control system for use in an automatic transmission having a transmission mechanism for establishing a plurality of forward stages, a neutral state and a reverse stage. The transmission mechanism includes a predetermined rotary element to be retained for establishing the reverse stage; a reverse brake for retaining the rotary element; and a frictional engagement element capable of stopping the rotation of the rotary element. The reverse brake is a meshing type brake which meshes with and retains the rotary element. The control system has an engagement mechanism for applying the frictional engagement element. When the reverse stage is selected, the frictional engagement element is applied at least until the meshing engagement of the reverse brake is established, to stop the predetermined rotary element.

摘要: Uncomfortable travel of a vehicle due to engine brake actions during the travel of the vehicle in traffic is prevented without using an one-way clutch within a transmission mechanism. An automatic transmission is composed of rotational elements that are braked at the time of establishing low stages, a brake that brakes the rotational elements, and control systems which control the oil pressure of the hydraulic servo in the brake. A band brake that creates differences in application forces, using self-energizing and deenergizing actions, serves as the brake, which is set to have an area in which the oil pressure during the drive is lower than the oil pressure during the non-drive, by setting the self-energizing direction as a direction of rotation of the rotational element during the drive and the deenergizing direction as an opposite direction of rotation of the rotational element during the non-drive. The control systems have a supplying mechanism which supplies oil to the hydraulic servo of the band brake at an oil pressure that is lower than the oil pressure during the non-drive and is equal to or higher than the oil pressure during the drive.

摘要: A controller for an automatic transmission which reduces wear of frictional engagement elements and shortens gear change time even when a gear change jump is made. The controller of the present invention includes a first hydraulic servo to which oil is supplied to make a gear change jump, a second hydraulic servo to which oil is supplied to make a gear change to an intermediate gear stage, a limited supply oil circuit having an oil flow limiting element, a quick supply oil circuit bypassing the oil flow limiting element and a pressure governor for regulating a line pressure to supply oil at a controlled pressure to the quick supply oil circuit. An oil path switching valve switches oil supply, to the first hydraulic servo or the second hydraulic servo, between the limited supply oil circuit and the quick supply oil circuit. Accordingly, when a gear change jump is made, oil is supplied to the first hydraulic servo via the quick supply oil circuit and the operating pressure can be increased quickly, so that the gear change time is shortened.
