Abstract:
A software data interface technique allows a program to retrieve data from another program, whether or not data formats employed by the two programs are mutually compatible. An application-independent data format, Fexchange, is a priori agreed upon and readable by creators of the two programs. In the course of storing data during execution of a first program, that data file is augmented to include instructions that convert the format of the data into the application-independent intermediate data format, Fexchange. During execution of the second program, whenever access of data stored in the first program is required, the second program retrieves from the first data file instructions for converting the format of the data to the application-independent intermediate data format, Fexchange. The second program then executes the conversion instructions so as to retrieve the data from the first program.
Abstract:
A method and system obtains a linear combination in accordance with an image processing algorithm using at least one lookup table that is indexed by at least one subset of bits from a set of pixels in an image.
Abstract:
The invention relates to genetically modified plants and progeny thereof which constitute edible plant-derived mucosal vaccines and injectable plant-derived mucosal vaccines against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The invention relates to a recombinant vector that transforms specifically, but not limited to, the nuclei and/or plastids of tobacco, tomato and lettuce plants for antigen production. In specific embodiments, the plastid transformation vector expressing the nucleotide sequences are pCV1, pCV6 and pCV8, and their derivatives containing an S1 with nucleotide (but not amino acid) changes to optimize codon usage for expression in plants. The present invention relates to methods of making the modified plants which comprises transformation of plants with vectors for nuclear expression and/or plastid expression of nucleotide sequences of the SARS-CoV virus, fragments, derivatives, analogs, or variants thereof. The present invention also relates to methods of immunization against SARS and methods of antibody detection using the SARS-CoV antigens generated by the plastid and/or nuclear vector(s) transformed plants.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for an automated system management process are described. According to an embodiment of the invention, a method comprises receiving data regarding operation of a network; automatically generating network policies based at least in part on the data regarding operation of the network using automation intelligence; applying the network policies to modify operations of the network; and receiving data regarding the operation of the network after the modification of the operations of the network.
Abstract:
A method for breathing of scheduling algorithms for a storage device (110). The method including: (a) computing a worst-case duration of a breathing cycle (P) for the storage device (110); (b) starting a breathing cycle; (c) determining if one of the following becomes true before the end of P: (i) a number of real-time requests is at least a predetermined threshold based on a number of data streams and performance parameters of the storage device; and (ii) a number of pending requests for any single stream becomes more than one; (d) if at least one of (i) and (ii) remain true during the duration of P, starting a subsequent breathing cycle after completion of the breathing cycle; and (e) if both of (i) and (ii) are not true during the duration of P, waiting P time units from the start of the breathing cycle before starting the subsequent breathing cycle.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to materials and methods for modulating angiogenesis. The compositions of the invention provide antibody substances specific for two or more PDGF/VEGF family members, which are useful for modulating angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis in a subject.
Abstract:
In a file system and in particular in a real-time file system it might not be possible to write a data to disc completely. Nevertheless the data that has been written to disc is often still useful, for example in case of an MPEG-stream. Marking parts of the file defective in the file system providing meta-data enables an application to perform application specific error correction or error concealment By using a filter driver, the file system can be extended with this error handling, thus making this functionality available to every application.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to fiberizable glass compositions comprising boron oxide at least one rare earth oxide in a molar ratio of rare earth oxide to boron oxide ranging from 0.01 to 0.33. Other embodiments of the present invention relate to methods of inhibiting boron volatization from glass compositions comprising boron oxide by adding a rare earth oxide to the glass composition before melting the glass compositions. Still other embodiments of the present invention relate to glass fibers formed from the fiberizable glass compositions of the present invention, and polymeric composites and printed circuit boards made therefrom.
