摘要: A system comprises a basic-input-output-system (“BIOS”), a disk drive, and a security system configured to prevent unauthenticated access to the disk drive. For each of at least two users out of a plurality of users, the BIOS authenticates the user based on the user's token. The BIOS also accesses secured data based on the authentication, and provides the secured data to the security system without input from the user.

摘要: A control system for an engine having a catalytic converter includes an energy calculation module that calculates a calculated mass air flow (MAF) of intake air of the engine based on a requested torque and a requested spark timing that correspond to a desired thermal energy of exhaust of the engine, and that determines an expected thermal energy of the exhaust based on the calculated MAF, and an energy residual module that determines a thermal energy residual of the exhaust based on the expected thermal energy and an estimated thermal energy of the exhaust, wherein the estimated thermal energy is based on a measured MAF of the intake air. The control system includes an energy evaluation module that determines a diagnostic result that indicates whether the catalytic converter is operating within a target temperature range based on the thermal energy residual. Related control methods are also provided.

摘要: The present technique provides a system and method for automatically switching a computer system between multiple display profiles in response to a system event, such as a hardware event. The present technique detects the system event, identifies the hardware configuration of the computer system, and automatically reconfigures the computer system to accommodate the hardware configuration in real-time. The system event may be a physical rotation of a display between landscape and portrait orientations or between viewing and writing orientations. The system event also may be a physical docking or undocking of a first computing device with a second device in a variety of mounting positions. Any suitable sensor, switch, or hardware/software detection mechanism may be used for the foregoing event detection.

摘要: A handoff method of wireless LAN comprises the steps of: 1) immediately starting by a mobile terminal to count time from a time point of entering the wireless LAN or building the new association, that is, when building association with a certain access point; 2) always tracking a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the old access point by the mobile terminal, and once the mobile terminal starts getting weak, starting to search for a near access point and making a preparation for handoff, and issuing a probe request signal to a new access point, and always responding to a probe response message by the new access point after receiving the probe request signal; and 3) judging by the mobile terminal whether or not to associate the new access point according to a signal strength and an association time of each of the access points, and if a judging result is yes, issuing the reassociation request signal to the new access point. Accordingly, the new access point issues a reassociation response message to build the new association.

摘要: A break event in a computer system that can operate in one of a plurality of modes, such as a high performance mode and a low power mode is initiated only be logic that that detects when the transition between modes is complete. In the high performance mode, the CPU clock is faster than in the low power mode. The CPU voltage may also be higher in the high performance mode than in the low speed mode. The low power mode may be desirable for a portable computer operating from battery power in order to conserve the battery's charge. The computer system preferably transitions its CPU to a “sleep” state during the mode switch and precludes devices not associated with the mode transition from “waking” the CPU and disturbing the completion of the mode switch. Accordingly, only logic that detects the end of the mode switch can break the CPU out of its sleep state.
